Free gills, growing on a tree. I'm pretty certain it is Pluteus. I'm not aware of any toxic Pluteus. With the bluing, i'm pretty certain it is an active Pluteus.

Nice find if it turns out to be Pl. Americanus! I’ve honestly think I have stumbled on to these, but was thinking they looked non-active. Learn something new every day. You got balls to eat that without some more input and (spore print)-assuming you didn’t take one?

I've become pretty intimate with Pluteus as it is what i find most around here. Lots of dead trees around. I feel confident that i did not just ingest poison lol. The bluing ones are rare. It's almost as if some Pluteus Cervinus just decide to go active sometimes, but that's just conjecture.

Pluteus are fairly easy to identify visually. He gave clear enough pictures that I feel confident in my identification. Just because some of us dont have TI badges doesnt mean we're not competent identifiers

I know, y’all are awesome and always on point, I was just saying that he had balls if not 100% sure. And I like your badge even if it doesn’t say TI.

Truth is, the majority of mushrooms arent lethal. The problem can be that lethal ones will grow in abundance. Like in California. I was 99% sure of waht it is and I've seen MentalPariah active in here. That was enough for me YOLO Be careful tho for real

This was in Illinois, but they should grow pretty much everywhere. Look for gills that arent attacehd the stipe, quite dark in the middle of the cap and bluing. bluing usually occurs mostly on the stem. Also gills that are pinkinsh with pinkinsh spore print. These gills were only slightly pinkish. And yea, good use of YOLO can be hilarious

Oh I agree with you 100% I would never recommend anyone eat anything that's not properly identified. Its fucking amazing how many people will post "I ate these but now I wanna know what "these" are"....like damn you stupid fuck
