Yeah it was so strange, this one lone gigantic mushroom in the middle of a very busy park.
My first ever hunt I came back with a handful of subs so of course I thought I was a natural haha but since then....nada. But you're right I'm trying to take enjoyment in the fact that I haven't spent this much time in the crisp morning air in a long time. I've also been getting down to the ground and taking some great pictures of the tiny ecosystems on the forest floor.

They can have symbiotic associations with a few different trees. Seems to be an oak in this case..

Finally found one of those 'sub patches' everyone's always banging on about.
I accidentally dislodged these little guys along with the mycelium, is there anything I can do with it like 'replant' it somewhere else or are they dead?

It's worth a try, or you can try to grow it onto cardboard or something..

I picked some subs and dried them out in 2 batches from 3 separate patches. Checked them this morning and a couple of them have some ?white mould/cobwebs on them.
I've popped them back in front of an industrial fan.
Just wondering if they're safe to eat & if anyone else has experienced this problem?
I dont think its advisable to eat them, but may be wrong. Please wait and someone else might chime in with a solution.

There's an add picture function that might be more helpful.
To everyone else I would advise against downloading a PDF from a brand new user with a single post.

That certainly does look like mould. If what you are trying to salvage isn't already cracker dry I would consider tossing them all out.

Thanks heaps! They're cracker dry and I think I've dusted most of it off with a brush.

I don't think that's how it works. You can remove the fuzz from a mouldy piece of bread or apple but the mould's mycelium network would likely still be hidden in the food. Where if you eat it you still run the risk of developing food poisoning. Though I could be wrong about it being mould. Does it have a foul smell to it? ~ most of the subs sighted from previous hunts had begun to dry out a little. I only spotted about 4 or 5 new subs on todays walk, but they already looked kind of old. Any previous pins that have been found had slowed considerably in growth or were beginning to abort. As there hasn't been any rain for the past week. So they have been subsisting from the nightly dew, as it still gets very cold during the nights but the day time temperatures are beginning to rise. I can feel that spring is just around the corner. Here are a few photos from that walk;

 Most of today had been dedicated to gardening. Towards the end of the day I was picking some ripe fruits from the larger ground cherry plants and decided to check on one of the younger ones in a different garden bed. Where I found no ripe berries, but something better growing underneath the bush.

 To my surprise I found a new little patch with 7 struggling subs. Just as I was beginning to become certain that all the patches around the garden had finished fruiting for the season. What's even better is that as soon as the sun had finished setting, a thunderstorm has since rolled in and it is currently bucketing down. Talk about perfect timing. Happy that a lot of the struggling patches around the area have finally received some much needed rain. Hopefully it encourages some new growth...

Shall we just rename this thread to: **Official Nickoloxious Psilocybe Season 2020** ☆NO ID REQUESTS☆ ?

Nah. I just don't want to see this thread fall behind on account of the current restrictions in place. I'll probably be slowing down on the photos either way, at least for the next week or so.
Next year I was thinking of doing a post at the end of every month, instead of every hunt. just to avoid the constant posting.

Oh it wasn't meant as criticism! Just a friendly jab through jealousy of the fact that I haven't found any myself yet .
Please, keep them coming! I love seeing your finds as I'm sure do others on this thread, it's definitely motivating to see that you have continued success and that the rest of us shouldn't give up too easily I agree it would be a shame to see the thread fall silent due to either Stage 3 lockdowns or other reasons.

I thought that might've been the case.
Ok, here are some photos of revisited subs from this morning... Garden patch;

 Two of the little ones didn't make it.
Nearby patch;

 This area had actually recently been cleared of overgrowth, ferns and vegetation and all the grass had been cut. A few known spots around there have been levelled. Though I'm sure the area will bounce back in a few years time. Thankfully whoever was clearing the area had intentionally left that sub patch alone back when they were still pins. Seeing as most of the area around it had been cut and cleared.

I’m certain there are still many places scattered around Victoria that would still be fruiting. Not too sure about Melbourne itself, though I wouldn’t be surprised if some were still hiding around there...
The latest I’ve ever found subs was a few years ago in early September.
