This is a tub i made with BRF cakes i put to coir and verm. I went away for the weekend and came back to what looks like mold in the corner. Can I cut it out or dump it and start over.

Might as well try to cut it out and save it but i can almost guarantee spores have spread.

That white fluffy corner looks fine. Don't mess with cutting it out unless it turns green or you get a very strong odor. Just make sure you spray to hydrate and get fresh air exchange going. You might look into a cheap hydrometer with a lead to help you dial in the humidity in your tub. I have one that controls a terrarium fogger to keep the humidity consistent. Best money I have spent.

looks fucked to me no point in cutting it out cuz its in ur spawn. anytime u get mold like that before the first flush u can pretty much bet the bank that its due to dirty spawn. brf cakes do not make good spawn. sure it will work but u can also drive with your eyes closed but it dont make it a good idea. im also willing to bet you used a spore syringe on your brf jars. now while if u have to use spores at all brf is the best choice but its still a major gamble. you really should look into using grains as spawn and inoculate them with an agar wedge of a known clean culture. also how did u make your brf jars?? or did u buy them?? did u use a sab?? all info like that is very helpful in finding out exactly what the issue is but i believe it is mostly due to having dirty spawn

I wouldn't cut it, that just helps spread mold and weakens an already compromised sub. Pick the pins at the edge of the mold as it spreads and keep maintaining it like normal. Looks like you'll get part of a first flush before you'll need to chuck it.

You don’t need a hygrometer ever as far as I’ve seen. Just saying. Cubes grow like weeds if you just have clean spawn.
You also shouldn’t spray that tub just because the surface is covered in mold spores and it just grosses me out thinking about them puffing up into your face as you spray.
Since there are already some pins you can let them mature as far as they will so you’ll at least get something from the tub. I would just set it outside in a shady area if you can, otherwise just keep it closed up somewhere inside and just rip the mushrooms right out, outside, once they’re ready. They may not grow too much more though as that whole tub looks sketch

It was from a spore syringe. Thats same syringe didn't produce anything when put to corn either. Also it was just done as an expiriment.

Bet you'd get most out of it by taking it outside and fruiting in the shade if you can. I wouldn't be opening that in the house either.

When you take it outside and take some of those pins. You can try to clone one of those pins if you manage to really clean the outside with alcohol, then take it to SAB, clean the outside in there again. Tear it in two(dont cut) flame your scalpel, take small bits of the tissue inside the mushroom and put it to agar. Clean agar on a few transfers. Then you can skip that dirty syringe you are working with.
