sporulation
    #2682082 - 05/15/04 11:49 AM (20 years, 8 months ago)

I have experience in growing, so I know for myself atleast this has never been a problem, but my question is, can spores dropped on your cakes or pins etc. be detrimental to growth? My cakes always go from white to black by the first flush.

I don't see why they would be. I think mushrooms have figured out how to grow themselves and reporduce without killing themselves. You might try harvesting before they drop their spores though.

I had to go out of town once for 3 days, when I got back 6 of my cakes had dropped spores everywhere and it was a big mess. This was also the first flush. Even with the dunk and roll these 6 cakes never produced as good of 2cd and 3rd flushes as my other six that didnt have spores drop did.

All cakes were kept in the same bin but the first were birthed 1 week ealier than the other six.

Of course I still made out with 2.5 ounces from them so I was happy.

I doubt that spores would cause a problem, in fact what could they do ??

I doubt they would cause anything to happen.
