Low Potency Tea: Genetics, Drying, or Preparation?

Hey everyone, I took 4g dry prepared in tea of a B+ MS grow this weekend, and the strength of the effects felt less pronounced than the 15g fresh I took a couple weeks ago from the same flush. It was one of the lightest experiences I've ever had with mushrooms, and it was the highest does I've ever taken. I ate the fresh ones straight off the substrate, but I prepared the tea this weekend by boiling the ground material and water in a little copper turkish coffee pot for 20 minutes, straining out the solids, and adding a shot of Ginger and Tumeric juice. This is the first time I've ever strained out the solids when making tea, but I've seen people insist on here that this doesn't reduce potency.
I don't believe my tolerance is the main issue as I only took .5g dried last weekend, 15g wet the weekend before, and then nothing for four weeks before that.
Anyone have any guesses why the potency felt so much lower? I haven't been growing for very long and have no idea how common it is to get a flush with a lot of randomly low potency fruits, so this could be all it is. I dried them at 160f for 10 hours in an instant pot vortex (dehydrator setting) until they were cracker dry. I'm sure the answer is probably the vagaries of MS grow genetics, but just wondering if anyone has any further insights.

Could possibly be genetics, sometimes potency is just random. Here's a question:
Was it 4g dried of a couple large mushrooms? Or was the weight comprised of small ones?
Also, I always powder mine and heat my water to boiling, THEN immediately dump the powder in while the water is on medium, let steep for 15 minutes. Not sure if boiling it that long has any detrimental effects.

The 15g fresh was one single fruit, but the 4g I made into tea was split between about 6-7 smaller fruits. That's part of what has me stumped. A single low potency fruit wouldn't be any cause for question, but this situation seemed a bit odd and I don't have enough experience with this to know for sure that I didn't kill my potency somehow

Very strange indeed, and there's too many variables for it to be conclusive. Maybe try the same amount plain dried?

what i learn from amazon shaman years ago.
1. place all your ingredients in pot of any kind except for mushrooms
2. bring it to boil
3. put mushrooms in vessel/cup
4. pour the boiling water on top of shrooms dry/wet
5. let it steep for 10 minutes or cool to drink
6. eat the shrooms in tea never throw them away dry/wet.

Could of just been a shitty batch
It happens. I never consume the solids. Just basic boil, reduce, strain and consume. Discard solids.

I make tea so I dont have to consume the solids.
Shroom matter fucks my guts up. Tea does not.

Yeah, I actually decided to make tea this way and discard the solids after seeing your tea tek the other day. The consumption experience was definitely better, and I appreciated skipping the tummy wierdness the next day, so I'll press on with this method when my next batch fruits.
In the meantime, I've got another 4g left of that same batch, so I'll probably just eat them dry for comparison in a weekend or two and see what happens.
One thing I just considered, and this is uninformed theorizing on my part, but could the large amount of ginger juice in the tea have raised the ph of my stomach acid, making it less efficient at converting psilocybin to psilocin? I added more than usual this time.
Thanks everyone! I really appreciate the feedback.

Just the opposite. More acid == more conversion. That's why Lemon TEK works.

Ginger juice is more alkaline than stomach acid, though, so it should raise the ph of the contents of my stomach. Also, the whole reason it settles your stomach is because it limits acid production.

Care to outline the chemical reaction that causes the acid to convert the psilocybin into psilocin?

Organic chemistry was a lot of years ago, but I'll do my best. There are a number of reactions that can dephosphorylate Psilocybin to Psilocin. Acid and heat are the top ones, and it is usually theorized that it is stomach acid which does this in animals. And Psilon can be quickly absorbed into the blood, which is why it is thought that Lemon TEK works, and why mushrooms with a higher Psilocin content make you "come up" quicker.

Hmm I’m not sure I buy all that. I’ve done both lemon tek and tea many times and honestly there isn’t much difference IMO

Well, acid definitely converts Psilocybin to Psilocin, that's how basic metabolism works. Now I know there's a lot of debate in the forum about how effective Lemon TEK is, and until the laws change for someone to do a serious research project on it, there's always going to be doubt about whether it converts enough to matter, (or even how much of either compound was there in the first place). It could definitely be placebo. But the basic chemistry is there to support pre-conversion. We won't know for sure.
What I was saying to start with is that ginger isn't the cause of the issue with him not getting a good enough trip. And to the person above who said that ginger is alkaline, ginger is pH 5.5-6. That's definite acidic.
