The blame falls on Saddam being an asshole to his people, not us. We were trying to protect world stability by containing and trying to disarm a very dangerous man.

Im fairly sure I have read that prior to gulf war 1 and sanctions, the Iraqi people were some of the most well off in all the middle east. With a comparitively good educational and healthcare system. Im not saying Saddam was great ,in any way, but he has definitely been demonised beyond the truth.

Certainly the vast bulk of his abuses took place when he was bosom buddies with Reagan and Bush Sr. The right-wingers who talk about him "killing hundreds of thousands" always neglect to mention that he did most of that in the 80's with the full approval of the US government of the time.

I wouldn't say "full approval," but the condemnations they did make were pretty toothless, and didn't stop them from giving him military aid.

Also, about the supposed genocide in Kosovo. This is from Project Censored, a media site that publishes true stories that major American media corporations will not due to government pressure. Don't always believe what the news tells you

Oh, and here's a quote from another site about the "genocide"

"Girard was equally puzzled to find almost no bullet casings on the ground. "It was weird," he told the CBC. "Maybe somebody had picked them up." Back in Pristina that day, he told his colleague Christophe Chatelot of Le Monde about the apparent absence of bullet casings. Chatelot asked one of Walker's observers, an American army captain, why there were none on the ground. The captain replied, "That's because I took them, I collected them." The captain "confided to Chatelot that he'd picked up all the bullet casings once he'd arrived at the scene."

Intrigued, Chatelot went to Racak the next day to investigate. When he tried to find the American army captain again, he was "suddenly nowhere to be found." "We don't know him. He's never been here," Chatelot says he was told by the OSCE mission. When he asked to talk to the four monitors who had been in and around Racak the day of the killings, he was told that their names had suddenly been made "a classified secret." "It's very strange," Chatelot told the CBC."

What justification did the UN and the rest of the world have for letting that happen?

Why is it the responsibility of the UN (scoff) or the 'rest of the world' to do anything? If a people desire freedom then they should fight for it.
