Anyone watch first amendment audits? * 1
    #26820013 - 07/12/20 06:53 PM (3 years, 7 months ago)

These guys just go into public places and film untill the cops get called and get illegally detained/arrested, I kinda have mixed feelings on them, I kinda think its a waste of time because 99% of them dont have followups, though I saw one where a guy got a 40k settlement from the city, and a lot of them the auditors get too emotional and get vulger, I think they should stay calm and polite

Yeah, some of them are very good and make real changes. Some are not so great, either way it's very important to exercise our rights and make police accountable for their actions.

People now know that most cops don't understand the law and constantly violate the rights of citizens without hesitation.

Where's the outrage for journalists exercising their 1st amendment? And when did everyone stop giving a shit about the 4th?

Wow I was so disgusted by the end of this video. Everyone who holds a badge needs to be publicly stoned. I fucking hate living here but they make it impossible for most everyone to leave unless you are unreasonably rich

Wow. I skipped to the end, but that really ticks the police off when you don't show them ID

then that officer at the end got grabby and then just said " I'm patting you down" and just started patting the guy down for weapons.

Once again misuse of power. They try to bully people into showing ID and once they have it you are more under their control.

And he should have never put his hands on the guy

Also yes, it made me sick to my stomach too.

The officers should have left them alone from the very beginning.

That's everyday policing in the US, there's plenty of other channels showing the same thing.

I found a really good one, but its like an hour long, I read through the comments and all he has said about a followup is that he has a lawyer on it and cant say more

I watch them but most of the time the auditors just sound like jackasses. I like it when they can just remain calm.

I recommend the channel called "audit the audit" its a lawyer breaking down police interactions.

Im kinda buzzed right now but I thought this guy spat out a brutal line at the cop, it was something like

Quote:

you have 1 of 2 choices, you can realize this is a first amendment protected activity and take your butt down the road, or you can violate my rights and ill strip you of your qualified immunity

LOL

You can't film people for profit without their permission. All those faces in the DMV should be blurred. Only exception is if something newsworthy happens, like a fight, then you are a citizen journalist. Where is my right to not be filmed by a creep when renewing my license?

Why are they harassing people in government offices? One thing to film cops behaving badly but going into post office and pointing a camera at the guy working there is a dick move. Where is my right to go in the post office without ending up on youtube?

the reason its legal is Americans have the right to audit government workers on the taxpayers dime, if you take a public facing government job you should do so knowing you may become an impromptu celebrity, and be fully willing to identify yourself to a member of the public

simply disseminating the video make it news technically, if that "something newsworthy" was a thing, that would create a huge problem with the government being able to block any journalist's story by saying the story wasnt newsworthy

you dont have the right not to be filmed in public, if you want privacy you have to create it, and in Canada you can even film on private property, unless the owner or someone speaking for the owner has specifically told you otherwise (including putting up signs) and any video or photographs you have taken before becoming aware that you arnt allowed to film you can do what you want with, they cant ask you to delete it

and the post office guy made bank on that incident, he sued the cops, he didnt however get their qualified immunity like he promised in the video, since the cops technically bullied him out instead of officially trespassing him, his lawyer recommended he take the $10k settlement from the city

There's no privacy in public and you are filmed all the time by cameras you don't even see.
