Ayahuasca Retreat Opportunity

Hey everyone, just wanted to pop in and mention that I have the opportunity to attend an Ayahuasca retreat in September. The only psychedelics I’m experienced in are mushrooms. I was wondering if I could get some peoples opinions and experiences (short version.) I’m pretty knowledgeable on the benefits/effects of Ayahuasca and have always wanted to experience it. For spiritual and medical reasons. Also the session is 3 persons max not including teacher. So it’s pretty private. The setting is also spectacular. This teacher has come highly recommended also

I think it will in large be dependent on the guide and how much he doses you
Ive heard mixed results with retreats, would love to hear an update on your experience when it comes

While peaking added a lot of cannabis tincture. Can't recommend high enough. Outstanding++++++

I suppose the setting and the guide himself will play a large role in the experience as well
Wishing you the best

Yes, the setting is amongst all the mother plants and cacti and the teacher himself plays the music. Unsure which instrument(s) though.
And thank you!

Have you seen pictures of where you will actually be tripping? As in- the room/area . Indoors/outdoors or halfsies? Night or a day. Dose? Will people be talking or moving? What r the restrictions ? Etc. I’m curious.

Also, are you doing this locally or plane trip involved?
But blindass has questions I'm curious about too.

Instead of doing that, you should just do ayahuasca in the safety and comfort of your own home. There's no reason to pay some middleman for something you can and should do yourself.

For both You and BlindAsss -
So what I know so far is that it will be outdoors during the session amongst all the acacia and caapi and other mother plants he has grown and studied over the past 20 years. Think picnic area but amongst the plants. It’s also a BNB so there will be an indoor space I’m sure for those suited. As I stated above 3 persons max attend and he the guide. He planted his teacher vine 20 years back and has learned everything dosage wise, to reduction of trip, how to brew, how to present it, etc.
I am still in talks with him so any other information I gather I will happily report back to this thread for you all.
This is also a local retreat. I will not be flying overseas anywhere.

You’re right. I would much rather do that but I have no idea where to start to gather ingredients and/or grow them myself. Sure I could learn. Which I hope to learn whilst on this retreat.

I have mixed feelings about this kind of thing...but ya never know until ya know. Have you met this guy before and conversed? How much is it?
I don’t care much for a middle man either....if it’s an introduction or initiation to something new, I might make an exception depending on things... but ya, I feel much of it is like selling water next to a river. Good for those who don’t know the river is there...I suppose, but if you know the river & know it’s freely open and available to all and any - then having someone mediate your direct experience of reality without the normal filters becomes a hinderance much of the time. Know what I mean?
Either way, if it won’t break the bank, and you have the opportunity, sometimes life throws you the most interesting curveball, in a good way - in terms of the people you meet and what happens etc etc. but the opposites also possible & possibly more likely.
.People can be easily & highly suggestible while tripping, so I prefer solo - private mind only experience - as much as I can let it be- I even prefer instrumental only music for that same reason, so use your discernment and be honest with yourself about this and you’ll figure out what’s the best move for you and everyone in your life. That’s just my take from my own little piece of mind, good luck to you

I totally understand this isn’t the traditional way to experience it.. Also have only conversed via email. Was sent pictures as well as a few links including a YouTube video of his speech on Acacia DMT in Australia. Again, as stated above, he has come Highly recommended, for Australia.
Also it is $350 a session.

I’m not saying it won’t be, I have no idea - is what I’m saying - only he can tell, it’s his life. We only are seeing a sliver of the situation compared to him.
Just wanted to bring up some concerns & questions is all.
Hate seeing people getting grifted/duped when it comes to religion/spiritually/mysticism/anything & drugs.

I def know what you mean by being easily suggestible whilst tripping. But in my heart of hearts I have a good feeling this opportunity arose simply because both my mother and I have been manifesting it to happen. I guess this would be a funny time to mention that I am doing this retreat with my own mother. Lol. Also, while we drink the plant, he plays instrumental music himself during the session.

A trip with your mother? Sounds like a great opportunity to deepen your bonds and cleanse any smut that’s built up over the years between you two. Does she have any experience with psychedelics?
If that’s the case, and dude man is just singing/playing music and chill, I’m more prone to say go for it, mostly because I’ve always wished to do something similar - and since it’s about you & yourself & your mom & herself & your mom & you, it doesn’t really matter what anyone else is going to be doing if the setting is good & comforting/right. At least, those are my hopes
I want to have a trip with each of my siblings and parents - but individually - and then after I’ve tripped with each of them 1 on 1 - I want to do a big group family trip altogether - before any one of us die, that’s been a deep wish of mine for a long time.

Yeah my mother and I are very close. She was my carer for a couple years during a Hodgkin lymphoma battle I had 2016-2017. And yeah, she has experience with psychedelics. The same as I, with only mushrooms. I posted a great read on that trip. We tripped for the first time together and was a great time haha.
Here’s the link if you want to check it out: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26465609
And yeah that’s more so my vibe. I love nature, being surrounded by it. Musically I am broad so I love all types especially instrumental during a trip (just not country or screamo) - no disrespect to those who love it it’s just not my type, tripping or not lol.
I think psychedelics with family is great! I’ve tripped with my mum and Aunty. My grandmother also has tripped with us one time too. She wanted to experience the magic of the mush so I guided her through that. Wasn’t her thing but she was happy she experienced it. The visuals were bit too much for her lol. I truly hope you get to experience trips with members of your family. It is a fun time. Especially when you know that other family member and you are very close and get along very well.
