    #26819396 - 07/12/20 01:01 PM (3 years, 7 months ago)

What's going on with these guys it seems they are only getting thicker but not growing up? It looks like the big ones cap is already opening... they are redboys (not redspore) .. this normal or do I need to adjust something

Yeah every 3 or 4 hours depending on how the surface looks .. I guess I'd rather have more caps then stems but I hope they dont all turn out to be midgets

Could just be genetics bro. I’d wait for a TC to say something or someone who has more posts on the boards here. I’ve been doing this for years but I’m not sure why you’d be getting fruits like that. I’ve had it happen before as well but usually like 2nd or 3rd flush. I don’t wanna speculate instead of give you a definite answer like some of the real pros on here can.

A few of those look healthy and like they will grow normally. In my opinion it’s just mutants due to the genetics in the myc. BUT I have seen that be a sign there’s a contamination present within the sub so the mushies are trying to push out as many spores as quickly as possible so they don’t grow so tall instead they grow short then open the caps in order to get there genes into the environment before they’re taken over by a contamination. ALSO BUT, this cake doesn’t look contaminated at all to me so I’m unsure.

If the veil is broke pick em. You usually wanna pick em right before the veil breaks just to save yourself a mess. sometimes if the whole flush isn’t as big as it could get, I’ll wait until a majority of em are ready then pick em all. But if you can pick one that’s ready before the others without damaging others around it then by all means pick that mother trucker 😂.

No aborts turn black on the cap most of the time. It’s just ready to be picked. Aborts don’t grow any more at all once they reach a certain point in growth from what I understand.
