That’s the best one I think although some new things have been found I believe since that was written. C10 suggested sand to me and that has really helped with fruiting. I’ve been taking my spawn and a sand/coir 50/50 mix with some Hpoo and mixing just a handful or two with the grain and after colonization I case with 50/50 peat Verm with lime and gypsum and I’ve been getting some good ponders with that. The Jalisco pins are too small still to really take a good pic but they are everywhere. Hopefully it will be a good one.

i wish i could take credit for the sandy casing comes 100% from my ninja Mycolorado
thats why i was so stoked to see him pop in, the dude inspired me
i have used poo but i dont like eating shit so anything im gonna harvest stones from has to be straight coir haha
also i have gotten my best results off straight grain or coir and grain, and i honestly dont see how it could do any better, ive never heard of anyone getting cube numbers (well over an oz per qt spawn) of tamp fruits using manure
giant tamp flushes are such a bitch to harvest lol... need a weed whacker

Yeah they look so nice all straight with open caps.
I think like somebody recently posted air is the biggest thing, at least for tamps. Having a ton of light this last flush didn’t seem to make much difference compared to the first flush by the window.
Flush one ambient light
Flush two led bars + ambient light
An ounce per quart would be sooo sweet. I’m about to grain my first clone and I dropped a plate pin into a jar a few days ago that seems to be doing well. One day I’ll have a culture like yours!
The wavy cap thing is irritating me too lol. It’s gotta be from staying too wet. I just want that nice round cap straight out with the gills hanging down.

I’ve seen a couple people say the Jalisco fruits seem to be more potent than the rest.
For tamp and atl the research I did seems to be assume they’re 1.75x cubes.

First time harvesting sclerotia (tampanensis) and decided to break some stones in half to see what was inside and it looks sort of rotted. Is this normal? There is a dark color to an inner hollowish chamber of the stones. I should also mention that some parts of the jar was contaminated(red and green stuff here and there but couldn't colonize because mycelium was all over the place) thanks for any responses

Are you using lids on your shoeboxes, or what exactly?
Yeah that was mycolorado, and he is right. Fae is important for sure. But i think light matters a lot too as far as determining fruit morphology for tamps

Ime this is not normal. My truffles are solid throughout and uniform in color. If you were absolutely determined to eat this, I would at the very least chop it, toss it in hydrogen peroxide then dry it completely. If you have other non contaminated jars though I would deffo just toss this one. Just my opinion though

I’ve been keeping the shoebox dubbed with the light bars balanced on top of it. Between low rh and keeping the window ac running 24/7 there’s plenty of airflow but the problem is with it being so dry I’d have to run the fogger to get them more air.
Which is the plan for the next run anyway. Got a few jars almost done.

Does it smell rotten. Take a picture. I’ve had truffles that are partially hollow that have a dark color that smelled and tasted fine.

See there’s that sharp mexicana smell you will get used to. The mushrooms have it, the stones even the substrate. For a first timer they might think it’s rot. I mean even the myc on agar starts turning that yellow and in a jar sometimes that brown and you’ll think it’s contamed at first. I did. But I have had some stones that had a cavity in the center that was dark but just smelled and tasted like mexicana. Nothing else in this world that I have smelled or tasted is like them.

The Jalisco are particularly smelly. I can smell that mexicana smell from outside the FC with my face close to it. Pretty crazy.

Heh unfortunately I tossed them before I got any pictures but they were definitely bad in retrospect, there was a liquid in the hollow portion. I left them out overnight to dry this liquid and by daytime the liquid was gone but some fuzzy mold had taken its place. Really not too bummed about it as I just performed my first transfer of some ape agar
