Hello all!! This is my first post on the forums was a member on here a few years ago but cant remember my login details so i have to start over. But anyways to the questions So a little info im going to be following the monotub tek. I have to questions 1. How many 1 quart jars could i feasibly squeeze out of one syringe?
2. Would it be ok to do 3 monotubs with only 4 or 4 quarts of spawn?
More questions to come i just see lots of diffrent teks that say diffrent things and im honestly trying to get the most out of what im getting Thanks in advance, Direshroomer

1. If you're doing agar (recommended) technically millions. I'll drop spores onto 4-6 plates to start with just to find a good section of myc to transfer. After that I never use the syringe again. Each drop can make a dish, each dish can theoretically make hundreds more, etc etc.
2. You can, just adjust substrate volume to match the 2:1 ratio.
PS: I recommend checking out Bodhisattha's TEKs. Very easy to follow, no extra BS. He's a moderator, just click his name and follow the links in his signature.

1. Agar, best and cleanest way to go. 2. You will need 4 or 5 per mono. I use 5 quarts in my 66 qt mono's.

It might be easier to start with shoeboxes as a new grower. If you a lose a mono, that would suck. Lose a shoebox? You have many more. There’s prob reasons ppl advocate for monos but I’m just saying.

Agar -> grain -> shoebox or mono
Shoeboxes are super nice because all of your eggs aren't in one basket and they super efficient space-wise.
Once you have clean agar cultures you'll never need to buy another syringe Once you have mature fruit you'll have enough spores for a lifetime.
If agar seems intimidating (it isn't, but I remember being intimidated by it) I'd recommend pf Tek just to familiarize yourself with the lifecycle and to get spore prints.
Also, it sounds like you would benefit from reading up on some of the tried and true teks.
The holy grail
Everything you need is in that link ^
A basic overview is:
Spores to agar (will probably contam but that's ok)
Transfer myc to new plates until only myc grows
Cut clean plate into sections and transfer to grain jars
Let jars colonize
Mix coir, verm and spawn jars into shoebox
Wait
Pick fruits
Make spore prints
Repeat
There are a zillion variations and tons of terrible(usually really old) info out there. If you want the best chance of success follow bod's teks (or other trusted cultivators).

Agree with basically everything you said... I did a few shoeboxes just to try ratios out, but ended up doing mostly mono. But I've only just started agar and I've never had a single contamination unless it came directly out of the syringe. I keep low airflow and sterile air, is that possibly helping? I've never even had a single bacterial spore on any plate. Is that unusual?
