Small fruits: Bad genes or Bacterial? (Update: Harvest!)

Hey fabulous mushroom peopl, I have a question about my shoebox- this is ms brf cakes spawned to coir using Shaper’s tek. Everything has gone smoothly up to now. Pins popped up about 13 days after spawning and we are now at day 17. I am noticing my fruit are extremely small, the biggest is like 4.5” and has already broken it’s veil. The others are a couple days behind and don’t look to be much bigger—is this just genetics or do I have some fae/moisture/bacterial issues going on?
Only my 2nd grow so I am still getting a feel for how things should look and what to expect. Any advice is much appreciated!

I am a noob, so sorry idk much. I have small fruits too. I think I over misted/ too humid, this is my first grow.
The big shroom bottom left is 3in long. Today the veil is half off the bulb. I will pick it tomorrow or the next day (probably) and wait for the others to mature on this first flush. Hope I get a second and maybe third+ wishing for the best and ready for the worst... All in all it's been a fun first grow. And yours look healthy too, just small fruits, still better than none LOL, you have Longboys while mine are short and fat... -Zen

small fruits happen often because of excesive water on the substrate
the fuzzy feet makes me think that you have too much moisture in there aswell, or maybe you need to increase FAE
Edit: 2nd pic you can see some darker caps, thats definitely too much moisture
Zenzombie, that cake looks good but dry

4.5 inches is pretty normal too. It took me a little bit to realize the shrooms in people pictures seem to look way bigger than they are. Just focus on total yield instead.

Congratulations on your success .. As long as you get some mushrooms you did a good job. You'll get better at it with every grow.

You: "Please grow nice and big!" Mushrooms: "I would prefer not to." (Reference to your username )
It's probably just genes. Make sure your conditions are solid and once you get a good sized fruit clone it to agar and isolate. The new strain should give consistently large fruits, especially if you continue cloning the largest a few times after that.

You are probably right - certainly no canopy but it still might be a decent yield in the end. I guess I,ll just wait and see.

Cheers, that is not a literary reference I expected most to pick up on 😉 I’ll keep fingers crossed I’ll get some cloneable specimens. Thanks for the help peeps 😊

Finished harvesting the stragglers today-all in all it came out to 150g total wet weight for the first flush. Not the best flush in the world but given I was growing from MS and used likely bacterial brf cakes as spawn, I can’t complain 😎
Going to give my wife her first psychedelic experience this week with these little beauties 😊

Also, lighting plays a factor in small caps/fruits. As well as the casing layer thickness
