I have zero knowledge on the matter. Which brand should I go for? Which brand should I avoid? How much should I spend to avoid cheap shit?
Do yopu have one? What do you have? Satisfied?

I don't think brands matter. Buy something that comes with a 2+ year warranty.

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Psalm 12:6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Revelation 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

I don't but I have a pair of Micca MB42x bookshelf speakers that I'm in love with. Less than a hundred bucks w/o amp but the sound is high-end name brand quality. They also make a sound bar version that seems to have similarly good reviews on Amazon, and I think even a surround sound system.

Ive had a couple. I dont really like em. The speakers are too close together. Surround Sound is where its at. I do like the regular 3 piece stereos thou with two towers and a subwoofer. Those are niiiice.

After having incredible surround sound, I could never do a soundbar.

For sure. I did full 7.2.4 with a 133" ultra wide projector. Watching something like "Greyhound" last night is literally, better than a theater.

So, there's 7 surround sound speakers, 2 subwoofers, and 4 speakers in the ceiling, 7.2.4.
Been a hobby of mine for years, finally got a house with a dedicated room I could put the theater in so I went all out.

I cant have surround sound. Too loud. I just need something that will poiunt the sound directly towards me instead of by the sides like the tv does.

I'd probably just go with one of the lower priced sony or bose soundbars personally.

I usually go for quality over quantity, if I can afford it.
Wouldn't buy a soundbar, myself. But if that's your preference, go for it.
I googled "best soundbars", and found this link:

It depends what you want. Surround systems can be deceptive with their total wattage but you get more of an experience. Sound bars are for when your TV has shit audio which is awfully common these days. The intermediate would obviously be a dedicated sound system. Like something you can play music on, it'll be loud when you want it to be with crisp audio. I honestly think it's the most bang for your buck but realistically it depends on what you need/want and expect to spend. If you're wanting to spend $100-200 then yeah get a sound bar. Any more than that and you'll want to start looking in to something more substantial.

I have Klipsch sound bar. I tried a whole bunch out before I picked it up. Seemed like the best of the bunch.
Idk if the link will work because it's Australian, but check them out Here. I think its an American company so im sure you could just Google it.

Get a small 2 piece tower stereo system. Sound bars are no good.

I have the Sonos one. It wasn't cheap but I think the sound quality is quite good. I have two other smaller Sonos speakers around my living space so I can play music in all the rooms, and the sound bar can either play music or do the TV sound.
