so im trying to start an old print. i was suggested to create a spore syringe. i have done so but wondering how long to leave it to hydrate. figured a week would be fine right? moving to starting on agar after hydration to clean it up and prep it for use.

A week sounds good. I'd also try swiping that print if anything is left. Even if it's old it might do well and I always have trouble with spore syringe to agar.

i have tried swabbing straight to agar. with wetter and heavier nutrient mixes too. more than 6 weeks and nothing. re-hydrating in a syringe is the best hope i have right now. :/

What is your agar recipe? I recommend trying, 7g agar +7g LME + 500ml water for germination plates. It's what I use and had old spores and fresh spores do well with it. Just seems easyer to put the spores to agar rather than into a syringe to wait a week then to agar.
I would swipe some to a bunch of plates and make a couple syringes, depending how much spores there is might even have leftovers

I had a 3 year old LGT print, and I bloody destroyed my agar trying to transfer it. Tore it to shit, and it took a couple weeks to do anything, but in the end it came out clean. I made an LC with it and now I've got 7 oat jars colonizing with it. It's possible I just got lucky, but it is possible to use really old prints on agar and have success.

Roger that. I hope it be blowing up soon. If not I can send you a print once I have some more, unless you're specifically trying to grow whatever variety it is.
All my PE6 were sporeless or just didn't really drop much but I have some TOC that should be pinning soon.
