whoistizz said: Hi everybody. First time poster here, seeking guidance. About two weeks after I inoculated my grain spawn bag I noticed what looked like the begins on mycelium but also saw some spots turning dark grey/black. Now almost another week later there is no mycelium, just more dark grey/black looking grain. Is this contamination?
That’s toast. Pitch it.

Noob here, I read through the identfying contamination thread, but just really can't put my finger on it.
First set of jars were bad, tossed them. Then this second attempt learned some agar stuff, and did a couple transfers. The jars looked good I thought, so I put it in a 32qt tub, using the bucket tek. Its like, fuzzy/fluffy and doesn't seem right. This is after 48 hrs, which seems way too fast. is this bad? thanks

Hard to say for sure, I’m thinking it might actually be Lecanicillium fungicola which is often called “dry bubble.” It can be a major problem, never mist a substrate with Lecanicillium cause you end up scattering spores everywhere if you mist it.

Hey all! I've been struggling with contams lately. Trich, every time. They very rarely show up in my jars but always seem to show up in my bins before/during the first flush, after a quick and healthy looking colonization.
I'm trying to find out if my jars are contaminated without showing any signs, or if the contams are getting in during spawning, or are maybe present in the substrate?
What are the odds my grain jars are harboring contams without showing any signs, any off smells etc, to the extent of ruining every single bin?

Recently sent this cake to fruit.
Today I noticed the center area on the top of the cake. Any ideas if it's good to keep with the others, or should I isolate?
As always, I appreciate any input or feedback

I’m more concerned with the fact it’s not rolled in verm. Not going to get many fruits without a roll.

Do you think it's too late to roll in vermiculite? I've read conflicting information concerning this, and opted not to. Have you noticed better results when rolling in vermiculite?
I recently began, and the first cakes I did had fairly decent results without rolling, therefore I decided to continue with it this time around.

Had these two brf jars fully colonized 5 days ago. Is it too early to dunk and roll and put into fruiting or would it benefit waiting 2 more days to dunk & roll

I'd birth them asap. But then again, you're talking to somebody who didn't roll in vermiculite

A longer consolidation is often going to yield better results. I would do 2 weeks for cakes myself. As for the roll it can be the difference between having a dozen pins and none.

From the moment a cake is fully colonized, how long would you wait to birth?
I'm interested my guy
I plan to dunk my next cakes to see if I notice a difference.

This is getting a bit off topic for this post. You should make a grow log in mush cult if you want some step by step reassurance.
