At the moment i have 3 pop corn jars colonizing nicely wothoud any contamination and i think they will be 100% colonized next week ...

I just wanted to ask if i can fruit this colonized material as a standard cake ?

If not , what do you think would be best to do ...

I was thinking like spawning some pasteurized straw , and later casing with peat+chalk mix ...

If someone has some advices or experiences , please tell me ...

Yeah , vermiculite isn't available here so i have to use some alternative casing method ...

I asked about the cakes becose some friend said that popcorn jars can be fruited like cake ...

But he was probably wrong  ...

They can, but in my opinion it isn't worth it. You would be much better off spawning to straw, or just plain casing the popcorn. As for an alternative casing mix, you can use just use strait peat moss (buffered of course), or strait coir.

well my croat friend, i would suggest casiung with straight coco cour - which doesnt retain mositure that well without verm, so regular watering up until pinset may be required...
Cakes alone provide some healthy meaty shrooms, but you will get more out of a nice casing

Really why would anyone use popcorn as a substrate in the firstplace? No wonder you had to spawn straw - even though straw is a bit of a waste of time anyway - not that you'd know...
