ive been seeing on the news today, that berg himself was in FBI custody before because he has al-queda ties. Supposedly BErg was involved in some way with Zacharius Moussoui (sp?). The news guy said, some believe Berg was executed by al-queda to silence him cuz the FBI was on his trail. this may be another johnny walker situation.

I haven't heard anything convincing about why he was in Iraq. It seems possible he had terrorist ties, but for now I'll reserve judgement.

The Bush machine is notorius for smearing their political opponents. Berg's father has come out against the administration, that's why stories like this are circulating. If I recall, Nick Berg and his father were in disagreement over Bush's policy in Iraq, the old man was against it and Nick Berg supported it (this is according to an earlier article I read in which his father was interviewed - sorry but I don't have a link).
-------------------- To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.' Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence. Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains. Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

They went to the same school or something like that. Somehow Moussoui obtained Berg's username and pass of his email account and was using it to contact his but fuckin buddies for the 9/11. Don't make assumptions that can ruin the dead man's reputation. FBI questioned him and released him because all they had was that Moussoui acquired his info.

evolving's response is far more plausible than the idea that this jewish kid was out in iraq to fight aid al queda.

I like how the fat terrorists dressed him up in an orange prison suit. Along with the cliche speech. Al-zarwq -whoever needs to put down the big mac, get some exercise, and be a little more creative in his speeches.

But really, why was he in an orange prisoner suit?
And if you watched the video... Why does it go from Berg identifying himself and talking about his family, then a cut to berg sitting on the floor with the guys behind him. Why does he stop moving and talking when he is sitting on the floor? He doesn't even move at all when they grab him and cut his head off. Wheres the blood? Rumor on the street is that decapitations yeild significant amounts of blood.. I didnt even see any blood. You guys think the terrorists killed him before they cut his head off, maybe to make it go smoother?
And god damn I just can't get over those pasty fat iraqis'. I didn't even think fat existed in that part of the world, especially for terrorist running around, hiding out in the desert.

i was wondering the same thing about why he wasant moving, or why his introduction was so stammered.. and wtf, how could anyone stay so still for that 7 minute speech?
it looked as if he was dead before they decappitated him. just realized what a null subject this is, nevermind.

im guessing that when you slit someones throat you hold the head/chin down to the chest to stop blood from squirting everywhere, thats how you professionally slit a throat(not like in the movies when they pull the head back)and thats how they did it. i saw heaps of blood patterns on the floor streaming out in a pool in the video he was either resigned to his fate/didn't think they'd kill him or was drugged or all three

Yes, I was thinking it was a possibility that he didn't know they were going to kill him looking at the way he was in the video. They might've just told him they were taking a hostage video and he had to kneel for it and tell his information
