70% ethyl alcohol vs isopropyl alcohol

During the covid crisis I can only find 70% ethyl rubbing alcohol instead of what I want which is 70% isopropyl alcohol. Amazon has 70% iso going for $25 bucks a quart.
Do I need to pony up the cash or will ethyl rubbing alcohol work just as well
Thanks

Not sure if ethyl aclohol will be good, but look for 99% isopropyl in 5litres or more. I had same issue in UK but found the 5litres 99% stuff was like normal price £25 I believe. Just have to add water and dilute to 70% strength. (bonus you end up with 6.5 litres of 70% solution).

Yeah I think that’s the route I’m gonna have to go unfortunately. I miss the good day where it was super cheap

I assume you're using this for disinfection purposes. Ethyl or isoproyl alcohol should both work about the same, but 70% is typically recommended over the 90%+ alcohols. This is because the 90%+ alcohol evaporates much more quickly and doesn't have as much time to actually disinfect the surface.
Remember that alcohols do not sterilize the surface/tool. Use the alcohol as part of your process, but don't slack on other techniques.

What he said. Both have the same disinfectant properties.

Ethyl is fine, but also Walmart has cheap iso in stock now and has for most of the last 6 weeks or so.

Awesome! I hate the feeling of not being able to get what I need during this time.
