Hello! Newbie here, just wondering if you all would critique my first grow and give me any pointers.
The background:
GT spore syringe using Spiderman tek, spawned to a purchased 50/50 blend using bod's modified monotub Tek. Next time I'm going to use coir as substrate. So, I know my sub is super uneven and that's why I'm getting side pinning, I didn't want to start out with the liner, don't know why. The lid on the small sterilite doesn't fit great upside down so I put it on normal and propped it open with some polyfil. First, it seemed really heavy with condensation so I opened it up a bit but it seemed too dry so I closed it a tiny bit and now I seem to have a nice fog on all the walls of the tub.
Is my substrate too deep?
I'm scared to mist because I have seen tons of contradictory views about it. Should I?
Any other pointers would be super valuable!!
First pic is initial pinning, second is two or three days later, and last two are today.

I'm pretty new on shroomery but have been growing a couple a years now, so just from looking at the sub, I'd lean to the surface being a little on the dry side, see the dry yellowing patches?. Give the surface a misting and keep an eye on it.
Also I'm no expert but you seem to have a fine dusty coating over the caps.. which also looking like their dehydrated and shriveling. Possible contam of some sort?
Let's hope someone with more experience will comment soon.
Keep it up ma man

There may not be enough FAE? I think it's a case of getting the setup tuned in an surface conditions dialled also!
As for side pins, don't worry for the time being, I don't use a liner on my boxes and think it's just a case of practice makes perfect. get the surface even in future and tamp the down the sub and edges a little more to help the sides not develop a microclimate

For a beginner if u can't dial in proper surface conditions use crumpled up price of waxpaper to keep rh high on substrate surface an change every two days untill u see pins. also if your substrate beads up like fresh dew on the grass the sub has good surface conditions. If u don't see those beads mist the wall of the bin.if it's before you see pins you can mist over the top of substrate if there is already a pinset an very little beads mist wall of tub

It looks like its getting way too dry, and then way too wet when you mist it. I’m just going by the surface and the caps.
If that’s the case then restricting fae to keep humidity up would be the thing to do.

I misted almost none throughout the whole process, just a bit up front. I'll work on dialing in my FAE on my next grow which I will do shortly as I am cloning a few choices fruits. I'll measure the actual depth in a bit but it's at least 4 inches.
So, here's the update. I woke up this morning and it was harvest time! I'll try to keep FAE better during 2nd flush and keep you guys updated.
Thanks for the advice!
