Should the Fed bail out Minnesota? * 1
    #26810099 - 07/07/20 11:51 PM (3 years, 7 months ago)

This article is quite ironic to me.

"MINNESOTA GOVERNOR REQUESTS FEMA AID FOR DAMAGE DUE TO UNREST, NOW AN ESTIMATED $500M"

The state of Minnesota did nothing to stop their rioters and basically gave "the fed" and our POTUS two middle fingers at the idea of interfering to prevent the chaos.

The damage has been done now. $500 million dollars worth of damage. (And probably still rising.) Most of that to Minneapolis. And now the state, in its aftermath, is asking (the very same people they scorned), for money to fix the problem.

The funniest/saddest part is that BLM rioters wound up negatively destroying their own black communities just as much as anyone else's.

Do they deserve to be bailed out?

I personally think Trump should give out grants to any business that wants to relocate to another state. Why would you, as a small business owner, want to stay in a state where your own governor, mayor and citizens betrayed you?

Since it doesn't sound legal, Trump would probably be up for giving grants to any business that wants to relocate to another state.

You think the people the state of Minnesota scorned is the federal government? What world are you living in?

If the Fed is going to fund local police departments, they can fund the mess they leave behind.

https://www.npr.org/2020/06/09/872387351/how-federal-dollars-fund-local-police

You can't have it both ways, if the Fed is going to pass unjust laws and fund the enforcement of those laws, they have to fund the aftermath of policing those laws. It's called of the cost of doing business.

I fail to understand your point. If anything, NO policing was done by the fed because Minnesota said "fuck you, don't interfere" last month.

Interference by the POTUS would have caused more damage.

MN is fine, it's one of the most financially healthy states in the country. Before POTUS fucked up Covid, MN was looking at a $1.5B budget surplus. Even accounting for the loss of tax revenue caused by the Trumpvirus, MN has just barely enough slush fund money to cover projected losses ($2.4B) for the year.

MN needs to close their borders to the shitholes in the southeast, like FL, TX, AZ, and other republican states if they don't get to take advantage of the same bailouts that those same red states will be getting. And for, ya know, basic safety reasons. Most of the northern states have figured out Covid and are doing pretty good, it's just the shitholes where cases are blowing up and hospitals are overflowing.

I'd actually support a blue state secession. Let the republicans deal with their shit without collecting welfare from blue state taxes.

There goes all your food and trade workers, but hey, I'd take that deal. Our economy would boom.

And what do we lose? Hollywood? People blocking our streets and destroying our neighborhoods with their rioting?

Fuck yes, let's do it.

No, over policing is the problem in the first place. The 'war on drugs' is fueled by the crooks in DC, that's the dam problem, not the police retreating from the riots.

If the Feds want to fund the over policing and the 'war on drugs', then they should pay for the collateral damage that comes with it.

The war on drugs needs to end.

Joe Biden (Google: Biden Crime Bill) is responsible for virtually all of of what has happened since 1994 relating to incarcerations for drug use going WAY up. Thanks to Biden, people who used to be in this forum have received much harsher punishment than they would have otherwise.

Yeah that’s a great point. If you weren’t being extremely racist in all the other threads I might take your criticism of Biden’s expansion of the racist carceral system at face value.

Here’s the problem with conservatives on this sub: they (for the most part) acknowledge the shittiness of the Democratic Party, but then decide to support the GOP which is by all metrics way shittier.

Gee, that's too bad.

I'm not a conservative, it's just the liberal party has gone completely off the rails.

And here's the problem with democrats ("for the most part"): They can't debate facts properly so they use the "racist" card instead.

You think they have to play nice to get federal aid? What you’re suggesting is we run our government on a system of patronage

You actually used one of the few cases where as hominem is not a fallacy. The ad hominem fallacy requires you to bring up unrelated personality traits. If, for example, you said "we'll ur gey", that would be an ad hominem fallacy. However, as racism is directly related to the matter at hand, pointing out the previously documented racist tendencies of the person making an argument related to racism is entirely valid.

You really should stop saying stupid shit. "Joe Biden is responsible for virtually all" ...

In another post you said that all the racism had been coming from the left for several decades.

If you keep posting stupid shit on this sub, most of the people here are going to treat you like you're stupid. But hey, you'll get positive feedback from the racists and stupid people.

This has to be the weakest thing I've read in a while.

People use the racist card when they can't argue rationally.
