Fruiting temp vs light question
    #26807281 - 07/06/20 03:09 PM (3 years, 7 months ago)

I started my first shoeboxes today and currently they're in around 70 degree ambient environment with ambient light. Once they get to fruiting stage, in order to give proper 12/12 lighting I would probably need to move them to the basement where it stays about 68.

Am I better off leaving them in a slightly warmer environment with a few degrees warmer temps, or move them to a 68 degree environment where I can provide 12/12 lighting with a 6500k light?

That temp difference isn't worth it,
but the light will be a benefit for sure.

That's kind of what I was leaning towards. The basement does get slightly cooler at times, but stays in the mid 60s or so. I've read where slightly cooler temps can make things take 7 longer but are less conducive to contam and can lead to denser fruits.

Thanks for the input, going to leave them where they are for now so maybe the temps help with colonization.

You could make a side by side comparison next time.

Set up some in your ambient light room,
and some in the basement.

Yes things will slow down a bit with cooler temps,
but you really shouldn`t have to worry about contams due to the "warmer" place.
With 70°F you`re very fine.

Here i have 71-72°F stable, just fine.

More important is humidity, so a comparison
would be good for what`s better in your environment.

Keep experimenting my friend

All makes sense, thanks man! I actually started 4 of them, I may do two upstairs and two in the basement and see how they do!

Experimentation to see what works for each definitely is the way to go!

Thanks 👍
