There’s a theory that as varieties get domesticated they get smaller for some reason. I know one of the guys has huge maz from older spores. From what I’ve seen he’s got a clone that puts off only monster mushrooms. Pretty cool and they look way different when they’re a foot tall.
If you want prints pm me rot I have a ton of cube types I can prob hook up like 10 right now at least.

So the first flush came in @ 19g dry so wasn't to bad tbh, I know that's probably under what it could have been for a 7L shoebox but I'm not complaining
So the 7L box is on it's second flush, not as much this time by the looks of it but it's almost complete now, corner flushes this time and some edge filling..

The 3, 2L Maz clone takeaway containers are fully colonized now and doing their thing, been 12-13 days since spawning to coir, think they are gonna show signs of knotting soon

Next up the 5 other jars of Maz clone spawn are ready to box up!

So mixed up 250g of straight prepped coir and split it between the 5 2L shoe-boxes.. and ready they are to go

Update soon

Looks like there’s already a pin in the middle of the third picture, could be yellow tinted rhizo though.
The surface looks good I always used to let it get a little too dry and all the rhizo would start matting up.

The only way that domesticated cubes would get consistently smaller is if they were bred that way. But given most varieties have about as much thought put into the selection as I put into flushing the toilet, I would doubt that to be the case. More often than not it’s more likely that people don’t know how to give the culture what it needs to achieve its best.

A.k.a, think you might be right, as for the matting up, same here use to let it go either a little to dry or to wet an it would matt but so far so good.
From yours or anyone else's experience with surface matting, do you think it makes much difference to the production of pin onset and eve-ness of the pinset if that makes any sense?

When the surface gets matted and takes on that yellow tinge it’s literally the pinning surface dying. Once it dies it’s either trich food or useless. It makes a huge difference in the pinset and final yield.

@Pastywhyte, that's why I'm loving this, so much to learn, reading through the threads taking it all in and the grows I've done, I have noticed that the fruits for me definitely get bigger as the flushes go on. But then I've only stuck with a couple of Maz spore prints so far
I look forward to learning tweaking and adapting my subs an grows in future... all in good time
Love your RustyWhyte thread ma man

That's interesting... What's the reason for this happening? Not enough FAE/moisture? Or is the sub just exhausted?
@ROT:
Congratulations from me, too. I think your grows look great!

It’s from drying out. Not enough RH.
