BRF shredded to bulk is like adding LI or LC to a grain jar...
    #26808725 - 07/07/20 10:19 AM (3 years, 8 months ago)

After doing countless runs this last year, first with whole grains and then the whole of 2020 with exclusive BRF... I have watched and seen shredded (the key word is 'shredded') BRF colonize bulk tubs MUCH faster than fully colonized whole grain jars can colonize bulk tubs.

This includes with most substrates including straight coir, coir and verm, and now that I have seen with manure mixtures.

The pivoting tool here is whoa and behold!... the sacred cheese grater;  An extremely simple and fundamental tool that a cave man can use (and probably did use, lol).

I am humbled by any refutations by the moderators or experts and just mean to start a little debate, because out of all the bundles of info I have read, I have never seen someone say this.  If this is common knowledge already that I have missed, then I am a dumbass.

People been saying to use a cheese grater for years. Hell eats was putting brf cakes in a blender with water and literally spawning slurry like 5 years ago or something.

My only issue with this is if the BRF cakes are inoculated with ms. It will the greatly expand the contamination which given that the limited expansion is the reason ms works well with brf cakes, it feels risky to me. But that not to say it can’t work.

yes of course, agree... I'm not talking about MS to BRF- to me that's idiotic.  I was referring to agar to BRF, or in my case agar--> LI--> BRF

EDIT:  also, was not proposing that the cheese grater is anything new... just the idea that BRF to bulk colonizes faster
