Success Followed By Instant Failure

First ever monotub grow. Nice GT first flush. 506 grams wet. Then I thought I needed to pull all pins and start over. What I think I actually did was just pick my 2nd flush potential right off the substrate.

Read I needed to dunk my tub to rehydrate for 2nd flush. Did that and it all fell apart into 6 pieces. I put it back together best I could. Probably ruined that grow.

Happy to have found success but bummed I fubared the future flush potential. Do you guys pick the substrate clean after each flush?

Immature ones I picked. Should I have left them and called it the 2nd flush?

You did fine, those look like they’re all aborts.

Usually after harvest there’ll be new pins 3-7 days later ime.  The broken sub might slow things down a little but isn’t a big deal, that happens pretty frequently.

:whathesaid: Sometimes you’ll see a few live pins that just showed up late that you might want to leave but basically everything comes up in a flush and some of them just get more attention from the mycelium network than others. If you leave those smaller ones they don’t really grow much at all IME.

I broke a few subs the other day lol. It sucks and I try not to but if it’s healthy it should be okay. I just pulled a 2nd flush off a broke sub that was almost as heavy as the first.

Thanks. The Aborts ended up weighing 5 grams dried. So at least there's that.

I had this worry when I first started monos as well but it turns out that most of the mushies need picked once a majority are popping their veils or about to. If a pin is very small like so small it’s not starting to stretch out it’s “stem” yet, id leave it and let it fruit with the next flush. Usually turns out much larger than the others for me but mostly everyone picks all the mushies they can see at the end of first flush, second flush and so on. I usually go for 3 flushes tbh then toss the sub and make new. You’re not doing much damage if any at all to the next pin set by picking the pins from the first flush just be careful to not pull up much substrate with each mushie. You damage the mycelium by doing this. I’ve seen that if I have an already weak mycelium and it’s flushing, when I pick the mushies and accidentally remove too much of the sub with the mushies, it’s that spot that tends to contaminate.

Sorry for the long message I tend to rant when I get typing -_- . To be short, you’re fine don’t worry the tub will be fine! 👍

EDIT: now the breaking of the tub I can’t speak towards. I would think the individual sections that were broken off would still fruit if in right conditions and there’s no contams already present.

I’ve read that the pins are more potent by weight but idk if that info is reliable. Just a silver lining to picking them
