ID Request (Melbourne, Victoria); What On Earth Is This?!?!
    #26808101 - 07/06/20 11:37 PM (3 years, 7 months ago)

Can anybody ID this fungus?

Habiat: Inner City Parkland, growing from the bark of a pine tree

Other Details: Sorry I didn't remove it from the tree as I have strong morels on the topic of mycelium disruption. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fungi and not one for shitalkie, I just don't feel like there's mush room for debate on this one.

I'm told I'm always ruining good jokes but come on I'm a nice-guy

FFS man read the forum rules and stop hijacking my already slightly-off-topic thread. The members, admin and mods will not and do not engage in drug deals. Go ahead and read through the forum and perhaps even introduce yourself somewhere. You won't get any help here until you start helping yourself.

There we go. Thanks for not disappointing

I legit walked up to this tree seeing a beige protrusion thinking “oh wow I wonder what sort of fungus this i....oh. You idiots’” lol. I love mushroom hunting in Melbourne. I also found this on a separate occasion. Melbourne is so random

This one time many years ago, when I was hunting/tripping around the Northern suburbs. I stumbled across a Geocache box by complete accident.

I didn’t know what it was at the time.
There were a few dead cockroaches, a lot of random trinkets and a book in the box explaining what it was all about. There were a bunch of journal entries from random people who had found the box probably by using GPS coordinates as you’re supposed to and it proposed that you could take one of the items but that you should leave something too.

I wrote in the journal that I stumbled across the box while looking for mushrooms and took a little pendant piece that has the translation of Morse code from A-Z, which I still have actually.
& left a pen that I had in one of my pockets..

So random.

Another time around the same area, I found a small ring with “Love” inscribed on it placed around a Sub so that it was growing through it.

Melbourne is one of the most random places, but I like the ring growing through the mushroom

Just taking the piss. If thats the case, good luck with the rest of the season, there is still essentially a month left.

Oh, and it should be 'mushroom growing through the ring'.

Yeah all good

I’ve been spending all of my time and energy ordering and gathering my growing supplies together, which has been a lot of fun but quite time consuming.

I’ve been on a few hunts the past couple weeks but it gets a little disheartening when you're new to mushroom hunting and don’t have a single success, so I just pulled back on that (and as guys mentioned above, perhaps they’ve slowed the past couple weeks) - and just focussed on my growing project.

I haven’t given up though, and now that I have most of my equipment ready I might head out on Monday after all the rain and spend more time hunting :mushroom2: Just...need...that...damn...Cubensis....print
