I love my air fryer.
I made french fries. You have to coat them lightly with olive oil before cooking.

I like mixing up some flour and breadcrumbs with spices like black pepper, curry and chilli pepper, mix in in with some egg and batter a chicken, then spray the coconut oil over it and fry it.

Fuck that sounds good.
My parents have one of those fancy 6 in 1 things. Haven't tried anything that advanced yet cuz I need them to go on vacation or something while I make their kitchen a mess.
French fries: coat in oil and rosemary and a little garlic. Toss the basket a few times to fry them evenly.

If you airfry french fries and dip them into unsweetened applesauce you are literally eating nothing but potato and apple. No fat, no nothing.
Its an art to airfry unfattened potato fries though!

The Cuisinart air fryer is a true multitasker. Toaster oven, convection oven, dehydrator (perhaps even more useful to some of us!), and a dozen other functions. Highly recommend!

I have the mealthy (meal + healthy) crisplid, its a air fryer that fits atop the instant pot, its pretty good, its just small I tried cooking 20 wings and I had to do it in 3 batches cause I could only fit 7 at a time, and each batch took 30 minutes so when I finished 90 minutes later some of the wings were cold and some were too hot to eat
I also bought 2 bags of jalopeno poppers that came out soggy in the oven, but in the crisplid they came out crispy and good, but again I could only fit half a dozen at a time
I also cooked sweet potato fries, they came out alright I think (im not a sweet potato fry guy) but took me like 3 or 4 batches to cook 2 potatos worth of fries
you have to use a little bit of oil to get a good crisp, I buy spray-able coconut oil, I think thats easier then brushing stuf with olive oil, and the only fats I use are butter, lard, coconut oil and olive oil

I just used my air fryer for some asparagus and it made me think of this legendary air fryer thread
Dude, seriously sometimes this thing is an absolute game changer, I normally roast asparagus in the oven and I usually prefer the asparagus tips crisp by the time they come out, and it takes a good while. Like I gotta sit back and drink a few beers or something before they're done.
But in the air fryer they were just about perfect in roughly 15 minutes. I definitely don't prefer the air fryer for everything but in some instances it is super handy

We have a good one, but I can't stand the food that comes out of it. It's just not the same a fried food and there is something missing with it. It's a cooking short cut and short cuts are almost never a good thing.

Great idea, I'll +1 them for sure
The Emeril looks good, seems robust, not very much plastic which is nice.

If you're looking for the best in 'taste' that you can get out, then sure; an air fryer isn't magically able to match all other cooking methods. But that isn't to say air fryers don't do well enough either.
Some of the things many find joy in with using an air fryer are: -Convenience in multiple ways -Speed (Cooking times are reduced) -Lower electricity cost compared to an oven (if relevant) -Clean up can be a breeze -Health (Allows you to use little to no oil for many foods, as one example) -And more probably..
It depends on the person I guess, I remember when talking about air fryers to a relative once, they complained that a certain item (traditionally deep fried) didn't taste as good when done in the air fryer. And I said, yeah it doesn't and inquired if taste was the most important to them. They immediately exclaimed yes, which I found kinda odd considering this was an over-weight diabetic.

I think its food dependent. The convection gets things "crispier" than regular ovens. French fries, tater tots, wings, meatballs, etc. I find that an air fryer is the best method, other than say, traditional deep frying. However, in many cases its superior to conventional oven IMO.
Just got me a new 6 quart. Its fantastic.
