Help drying truffles
    #26806215 - 07/06/20 04:53 AM (3 years, 7 months ago)

Hi everyone, as u can see im new in the forum, and im quite an inexperienced tripper. My friends and i bought about 75g of Hollandia truffles but have no fridge to storage them till we eat them.So we have a food dehydrator with a minimum 95 Fº, would it be okay, how much time would it take..?
I've seen some posts but I'm not really convinced about how could i make it.

Any advice is welcomed:laugh: thanks!!

Hello,

Dry them as soon as possible if you don't have a fridge. 35ºC (95F) is completely fine... Up that temperature if you can. I usually dry at about 55ºC, although I've read many people saying even 70ºC would be fine as well.

You will know they are dry when they have literally become stones (they make noise if you drop them).

The problem with truffles is how to consume them after drying.

I put them on water for about 40 min. Then I drink the water as well as eat the truffles.

Not sure... You can cut them in smaller pieces if you want it to be faster (and also it would be better for later dehydratation). Just make sure they are completely dry.

I'm a little confused.  You don't have a refrigerator but you have a dehydrator?  In the commercial vacuum seal those come in, they can last months in a regular refrigerator.
