Agar colonized plates - Cottony edges?
    #26806064 - 07/06/20 12:22 AM (3 years, 7 months ago)

Does anyone know why the edges become cottony while the center is rhizomorphic?

I stored the colonized agar in the fridge for about a month and still had the rhizomorphic growth, however a week later at room temperature, it started to grow cottony edges. Is this normal?

Yeah that seems most likely,
I was under the impression we needed to wait a week after
taking out from the fridge to rejuvenate the mycelium
before transferring it to a master slant, according to RR.

But after watching the video again, he was referring to
the master culture slant itself that needed to rejuvenate
before transferring it a petri dish.

So im assuming now, the colonized petri dish should be transferred
immediately after taking it out from the fridge.

I also remember reading RR statement, that you should not wait
for master grain jars to rejuvenate at room temperature when
taking it out from the fridge, and should be transferred immediately.

I'm wondering now if i should just throw this one away, or just cut some out from the center.

bump.

Wondering if anyone can confirm when to transfer / use a colonized agar dish that was stored in the fridge?

Immediately? or wait to rejuvenate?
