What would you all do with agar like this? It seems strong so far. (Potato dextrose.)

I have quite a few different strains and plates that all look like non-rhizomorphic mycelium, but maybe this is just because this is entirely from spores? Should I cut some of these out and put onto some new plates or go directly to grains?

You typically don't want to put a germ plate directly to grain. Could be stuff hiding in there. I would take multiple rice-sized transfers from that plate and grow them out until you're confident you have a clean culture.

That's kind of interesting, I would have expected that it would be better to take major chunks of those entire circles for the best strength/growth. But rice sized does kinda make sense for isolation from any contams from a pure germ plate.

Yes and take the small cuttings from the new growth edge going into clean agar. Once T1 grows out you could probably take agar wedges to from that to go to grain and some more rice size transfers to goto more new plates

I cut out each little section and transfer to a plate. I like to have them race each other

On that same note, since this plate is nearing 100% colonized, how long can you wait before doing the transfers to new agar? I'm assuming not very long at this point? Compared to that previous picture it looks like growth is getting stronger/faster than every previous day.
Based on the last 24 hours it seems like it'll be full very soon. And is it true that you can put them in the fridge to slow growth down safely?
