Panaeolus ID help
    #26805686 - 07/05/20 05:38 PM (3 years, 7 months ago)

I found a few of these about a week ago. They were growing on the grassy nature strip out the front of my place in the inner suburbs of Melbourne. I picked the largest one to take some photos and print for an ID, but never got around to posting one till now.

Don’t have much experience with Pans as I never paid much attention to the genus until this year. Have seen P.papilionaceus a couple of times in rural areas.

Though was wondering if this urban find was either Cincts or Foes? Initially I thought they were foes because of the small size, but have since realised that both species can vary a bit in size. also the print appeared to be black so.. :shrug:

Freshly picked;

Gills;

Some brown bruising on the base of the stipe less than ten minutes later;

After printing overnight;

Thanks for any help in advance!

Thanks! Appreciate the input.

I never knew they could be so small. Most of the others had caps that were barely a centimetre.

Checked the spot just now and found a single tiny one. Not going to bother with that, but it’s nice to know that they’re there. :cool:
