The vast majority of countries on earth have laws against psychedelics. America is no worse than them in that regard, and many states and cities today have better laws and less severe penalties than the majority of countries on earth when it comes to stuff like that. We should be better, but if you're comparing us to others, then we're near the top. All sorts of places like Japan have way worse laws and more severe penalties than we do.
Quote:
Freedom to get harassed, locked up & killed because of skin color.
That's true the world over. There isn't a single country on earth that doesn't have that problem. Absolutely, it fucking sucks, but America is no worse than others. It's absolutely not true that any other country has less problems with racism than the US.
Quote:
Freedom to get bankrupted over medical bills.
That's true, we're one of the last countries as far as I'm aware that has private healthcare. But in exchange, we don't have the kind of wait times and limited resources in our health care industry that places like England do. It's still bullshit that anyone should have to go bankrupt over medical bills, or even that the industry is private, but there are some clear advantages to having a private healthcare industry.
Quote:
A country that began by stealing land from the indigenous people & committing genocide against them.
There isn't a single country on earth that didn't begin through warfare and conquest. What happened was inexcusable, but the history of every country on earth is filled with violence and bloodshed and taking people's land from them, often over and over and over across hundreds of years.
Quote:
A country that forces its will on others all over the world.
If by "forcing our will" you mean advocating for free and open democracies, trying to limit nuclear proliferation, trying to support human rights, then yeah, absolutely. The vast majority of what the US tries to get others to do is to support basic stuff like human rights, democracy, freedom of speech, genuinely good things like that. And we're not the only ones who believe in that stuff and try to advocate for it worldwide. Australia, England, Canada, France, they all do and believe in the same stuff we do. Whereas, if you compare us to Russia who spends their time and money assassinating people in other countries, paying bounties to terrorists to kill allied troops, undermining democracies and wrecking elections, we advocate for some damn good stuff.
Quote:
A country full of self-centered pricks that won’t even just wear a mask during a pandemic.
All countries are full of self-centered pricks. There are also tons of people in the US who do wear masks and who are incredibly selfless and caring. Again, the same could be said about any country.
Quote:
A country that ignores science because it’s inconvenient
The list of countries that ignore science is quite long. I wish we took it more seriously, but we're no worse than others in that regard. And there are plenty of people here who do believe in science, and have spent their lives trying to advocate for it, trying to get it in schools, etc.
Quote:
and denies/perpetuates climate change so that a few can get even richer
There are a huge number of people (in fact whole political parties!) that do believe in climate change and try to make a difference. Compare that to China's attitude. There are plenty of countries that genuinely don't care, or that claim that they care but end up doing absolutely nothing.
Quote:
A country that claims the people choose their leaders, when in reality the choice is between two parties that both serve big money
Considering that many of the problems you mentioned like not wearing masks, lack of science, and climate change denial are all things that the Republican party advocates and that the democrats have been trying to fight them on, that proves that the parties are in fact very different, and that one party has been fighting for a long time for the things you believe in, while the other party has been fighting for a long time on the other side. I fail to see how that means that they're identical.
Look, the problems you brought up are genuine, and we should fix them. But that doesn't mean the US is a terrible country. Terrible compared to what? If you compare us to other countries on earth, in any category, we're either as good or better. In many, many cases we're better, except if you're talking about specific issues where great first world countries like France or Germany are doing a better job than we are.
But it's not like we're complacent, we have a whole party, the democrats, trying to fight for the exact stuff you're talking about, and then we have another party, the republican party, that is fighting against it. Yet at the same time, I personally think that there are lots of other things that the republican party is right about too.
The US is still a good country even though it has things wrong with it. Could it be better? Absolutely, but that doesn't mean it's shit. Shit is a country like Russia that has no rights, no freedoms, no rule of law, run by a dictator with fake elections, that imprisons the opposition, poisons and murders people who object, suppresses dissent, destabilizes other nations, interferes in elections, that's a shit country.

The Boston butt is so juicy! Just as planned, the butt shall carry us through the downpour of rain and the ribs will be ready to grill when the sky water stops falling and drenching all everything.
Part Tiger sauce and some extra spicy sauce for the pulled pork now, tiny and delicious Hawaiian buns waiting to be toasted. I'm gonna be in a food coma within an hour of the baby backs being done. Yay, beer!

This year I got an 8 pack of rechargeable AA batteries. Happy Christmas in July, everybody!
