Do some people really PC their substrate (coir, verm, potentially gypsum)
    #26804188 - 07/04/20 07:46 PM (3 years, 9 months ago)

Ive never PCed my substrate, but I was reading mushboys shoebox tek quick because I havnt grown in a few months and he said he PCed his. I just put my coir in a bucket of hot water until it get to field capacity and isnt too hot. Is it necessary to have it sit for say 24 hours so it becomes “softer”?

No, just a preference. I haven't heard of anybody PCing coir unless its for Stones or maybe Mudabottles. Haven't looked at that tek. Soon as its hydrated and broken up and fluffy and cool enough to use. Some people use cold water, all up to you and best results.

Most people don't. I personally like to heat up water in a kettle and pour it on my coir.

I did it my first time, but that's because I just ran with my own experiments from the get go. It worked, but my fruits were small and lacking in potency. Idk if they are related or not though
