Question about venting steam in PC.

I have an electric stove at my place that has a sensor that cools down if it gets too hot.
What ends up happening is a cycle where it gets hot enough to pop up the safety latch, then doesn't stay quite hot enough to keep it up and the latch falls.
This happens about 6 or 7 times at least until is gets hot enough to keep the latch up for a continuous 10 minutes which is when I put the weight on.
Do I really need to wait for the continuous 10 minutes of venting or can I put the weight on after a cumulative 10-30 minutes? Air wouldn't go back into the PC once it's that hot, right?
The reason I ask is this process has been taking around an hour and I'd like to trim that down if possible.

The weight should toggle once a minute.

Typically my pc is up to 15 after about 45min. Im sure it would be fine, but with your stove turning on and off continuously does it hold 15psi continuously.

Yes, it holds pressure fine once I put the weight on.
It's the venting that I am asking about. You're supposed to vent for 10 minutes before putting the weight on so any air trapped inside the PC is released.
Otherwise, your gauge will say 15 PSI but that is total including the air inside and thus the temperature will not be as high.
Edit: It doesn't turn off, just doesn't stay all the way on high. Cranks back up after 2-3 minutes. Not an issue after it gets up to pressure because I turn it way down to around 3 anyway.

Hmm interesting. I get what you're saying. Is steam escaping to some extent the whole time? Or not at all when the burner turns off?
The only way to know 10% sure would be to check with a thermometer similar to how Bod does in his thread where he explains the benefits and temperature differences from venting. You know what I'm talking about?

I would imagine the inside of the PC stays a positive pressure environment unless it becomes cooler than the ambient temperature in the room, right? And that is not happening unless I turn the stove off and let it cool for hours.

Just to add, the cycle I'm referring to is pretty quick, when the latch falls it goes back up within 5 minutes.

Are you talking about the pressure pin thing that pops up and locks the lid in place?
I’ve never paid attention to that I’ll check it out next time.
Venting it shouldn’t matter if it’s up or down, as long as the waters boiling and a steady cone of steam shoots out.
If the waters been boiling for 15 minutes it should be ok, especially if you run it for 1.5-2 hours instead of an hour.

Yep! I run for 2 hours. Yeah that's kinda what I'm thinking. Guess I've been wasting a bit of time being extra cautious. Good to know.
