So, a guy I know has a cactus, and he's calling it a "Texas torch/creekside patch"
Never heard these names before, and I can't really find any info. Looks like a trich/echinopsis of some kind, but my cacti ID skills are lacking. Is it some kind of new hybrid, or is he misinformed?
Any help is appreciated. Here are the photos he posted.

Seems to be a varietal cross Texas torch. (I would imagine Peruvian torch and Texas torch have some similarities.) crossed with Creekside pachanoi (I see how it could be heard as “patch” when said in a shortened form.)

There has been a lot of discussion about Texas Torch on Reddit. It is a clone that is fairly common at nurseries in some parts of Texas. People seem to like it.
I've never heard of Creekside Pach before.

Nor have I, but I assume that’s what his friend meant.

I don't know...he spelled it "patch" twice in a row, lol.
Thanks for the feedback, y'all. This guy has a history of making some iffy claims, and being hardheaded about it. Figured I'd ask here instead of engaging with him this time.

It does look a bit like the “Texas Torch” that’s sold here in Texas that’s normally labeled a T. bridgesii. He’s probably calling it creekside pach because that’s the name of the nursery that sells them. It’s possibly a hybrid between peruvianus and pachanoi but no one really knows. I think it’s just a long spine pachanoi personally but the genetics are a mystery. I have one myself and it really a beautiful clone.

Thanks. Yeah, I talked to the guy about the "creekside" thing, and it's just the name of the nursery.
