I got an oz of dried amanita panthers a couple years ago and really enjoyed them they were from Washington state. Anyway I cant buy them anymore and they are my favorite amanita. I have a book that talks about them and it says I can find them in June September October and November but is this correct in Colorado. I also read they can be found around a tree called Douglas fir I know a town filled with that tree. Anyway how long after it rains should I look the town is 30 minutes away so I could go often but gas is not cheap. Also do I have to dry them? I dont own a food dehydrater but if im going to grow p cubensis I will need one anyway so ill probably have one by September. But are these mushrooms rare I really want a lot of them. I ate 3 caps once with some weed and alcohol and it had my muscles twitching and then I passed out. A cap feels pretty good though. Also are the stems bad when I got them the bag was just caps. Anyway thanks for reading this.

From what I've gathered they can be found throughout the Rocky Mountain Range.
Common prep techniques for Amanita involve drying them out, as this converts their ibotenic acid to muscimol. You can then brew a tea with the mushrooms to further convert the ibotenic acid to muscimol. Adding some type of acid, such as lemon juice, will help further convert.
I'd suggest starting small, people suggest 5g dried, but I'd try for less. A Youtuber with the mushrooms namesake recommends microdosing to adjust to the mushroom, and then start doing higher doses.
Ibotenic acid is a known toxin, but there is so much contradictory information present within amanita users that it is hard to find a common ground. Research, read reports, and be informed before dosing. I am not an experienced user, and am just relaying what I have recently read.
I've also heard august is the prime month for these guys, but it depends on the climate.

As far as I am aware all ibotenic acid will be decarboxylated into muscimol in the stomach

This sounds like good advice, but you need to become an expert in the full process from identification through to consumption - you are picking a poisonous mushroom and then through a process making it edible - that’s no joke.
Also in ritualistic consumption of amanitas, people drink the piss of animals that eat them, or you can drink your own piss once you have consumed them to increase the effects. Or you could just not. But yeh, whatever you’re into’s cool.

Im not into drinking pee but ill eat the mushrooms if I find them. Ive eaten A muscaria before to but they only made me see tracers kinda felt like the day after you use LSD without sleep. Panther caps made me feel really funny definitely stronger than the red ones. I read a report on erowid that said someone ate them fresh and it sounded like they got higher than I did. Also im pretty sure the mushrooms are not really poison I dont care if they make me sick I just dont want to die. There definitely not deadly is what I mean the most I ever ate was 3 caps I felt anything over that was dangerous. But ill definitely be responsible if I find any. I ate a cap coming down from a combination of mescaline and ETH-LAD and that felt really good.
