Habitat: A rotting Log in a marshy environment, on a peninsula in the middle of a river
Gills: Free, not attached to stem. Tightly packed. White before they were disturbed, after picking they started turning slightly pink
Stem: white with hints of green. About 5cm/2" long. Width: 7mm or 1/4" Somewhat hollow, mostly solid
Cap: 5.5 and 6.5 cm across / 2" and 2 3/8" across. Off white with a dark spot in the middle fading toward edges. Edges were transparent before picking. Entirety of pileus has darkened since picking.
Spore print color: pinkish tan
Bruising: slight green bruising on inside of split stem
Other information: Had a slight but distinct smell I can't compare to anything else exactly, but it's maybe a bit similar to the smell of almonds.

So, I'm contemplating the risks of eating these. I find it somewhat likely that these could be a north American variation of Pluteus Salicinus, and I've heard that nothing in the genus is *known* to be poisonous.
I'm going to do more homework, but I'm curious if anyone has any thoughts.

They're safe to consume. I don't see any bruising, but if there was it's probably weakly active.

Thanks! There wasn't any bruising, but definitely some green tinges to them. I've read that some active pluteuses don't bruise, but are quite potent. Although I've also read that there could be a huge difference between fresh and dried specimens.
I was thinking these might just be deer mushrooms, but they didn't look like the deer mushrooms I've seen pictures of.
I just did lsd a week ago, so if I decide to eat these, it'll be a week from now.

How was the taste? I've heard it is apparently not very agreeable.
Without being able to tell which species you've got, I'd assume you would need a bit to get effects from psychoactive Pluteus, as my impression is they're pretty weak. You should apply scales, and multiply the required weight by 10 if they are fresh.
Check this link for a description and dosage of P. cyanopus:
