Panaeolus cinctulus.  but for the sake of posterity lets see a black sharpie line next to those prints.

I'm a little confused about bruising that is supposed to show up blue in this species.  I squeezed this mushroom last night to create a bruise and i feel like it just turned darker, but nothing I would call blue.  Can anyone help me understand what the blue bruise should look like or why this bruise is not blue?  Here is my bruise on the top left corner of this picture.

Cinctulus rarely bruise blue.

I'm not convinced this is cinctulus,  please use natural light when looking at your mushrooms and spore prints,  artificial light can distort the colors. Will you post a picture of the spore print in natural light? If you see any brownish, purplish or blackish purplish colors it's not cinctulus.

That’s why I asked for a black sharpie test.  It has the same brown tint that the print has.

Thank you for the lighting tip. It's a bit late here so the light is limited but I took this picture outside with no flash. If it's not bright enough I can try again tomorrow in the daylight.  In person it is inky-jet black no purple/brown at all.

The sharpie test isn't necessary.

The substrate is horse manure. All manure-dwelling Panaeolus species will have black spore prints.

Hi Moria!
Can you explain what you mean.  Do you mean its not necessary to do the black sharpie test because its definitely cinctulus either way, or did you say that for some other reason?

I disagree,  Panaeolus foenisecii is known to grow on dung and as you know they have variables spore print color
