Small amounts of heat will still bring down your mushroom potency. I don't dry mine using any heat at all so there is no chance of having this effect on them at all

That's incorrect.
It has been shown that heat below 180 deg isn't enough to start breaking it down.
You can cook with them or turn them into a tea...
The previous shot though looks like they're dried and burnt...I wouldn't expect much.
I run my dehydrator at 65 with excellent results just fyi.

No I'd think by burning them till black you'd have really pushed the theory,) They may still be ok but I'd doubt it.
Though can't hurt....and itd be for science .

Another fun way to get black shrooms is to freeze them before they're properly dried:

from my first year, my first find actually! Didn't end up taking them.
Shrooms going black seems more to do with heavy oxidation so they're probably lower in potency. Without a lab there's only one way to find out .

Not much going on today, mostly everything was rotting from last visit. Got a couple pics but couldnt be bothered uploading them.
Heres the most interesting thing for me. What i believe to be rotting alutacea with bluing on the base of a stipe of one specimen.

EDIT: Pretty much the best pics from the day, nothing special.

Big shout out to bobwastaken for letting me know these guys are quite definitely Alutacea, gills are not sub-decurrent.

Welcome to the Adelaide Hills!

So i have taken a tonne of photos lately and unfortunately have no other outlet cept here to show them. Been finding so many.. some areas i've checked out seemed to only have subs growing.. All found in the south, in the rain.

Enjoy!

Nice, am enjoying.
had a nice little but somewhat rushed hunt today. A lot of subs are starting to get too old, I left them there but now I'm wondering if it's worth blending old ones up into slurry for starting new patches.
Pics didn't turn out great but whatever
Old wavies

 weird lumpy half-eaten subs

Always love seeing subs from the south especially this season since I haven't been able to make the drive down often.
Some cool shots there sausages particularly the wavy caps.
Great work on the P.alutacea OOISI. The bruising at the stipe base is a good example.
Here's a few from after the recent rain

P.alutacea

P.sub growing in a sandy pine forest

pins

P.sub in a windswept area. I love their adaptability to conditions. Sometimes these specimens have virtually no stipe and appear as blobs or caps protruding from the ground.

You can see the knot in the upper stipe where growth is stunted.

A pleasant surprise in a bushfire affected area

@TheThing, be careful taking out your cam in the rain, my last one broke like that just recently. Unless you have a waterproof, than go nuts Nice shots, the majority seem to have pronounced umbos. Also nice Omphalotus there on the end
@bobwastaken, thanks bob, spore print is purple . It was good i took those rotting ones because they gave me my best prints. Its an interesting species, both being able to have brown or white stipes.
The bushfire pins are awesome and that cheeky cunt is sticking out his tongue.
@sausages i too saw a lot of old/rotting ones. Theyre still good for spores so they would be good for propagation,
@jibbly definitely the majority are subs, and i believe all except that one i pointed out are subs. The other ones with yellowish gills im thinking are sterile.
Heres a couple habitat shots from the weekend:

I didnt make it clear in my original post but i saw a lot of subs two weekends ago, which were drying out. The rain seemed to either cause them to rot but also revive a few, in my visit last weekend. Saw very little pins. Not hopeful about next weekend, but a hikes always good and its also good to observe what has changed since last visit.
Hope everyone has a good rest of the season.

Cheers OOISI. I'm confident on them, there was significant bluing on some of the whitish/yellowish gill ones.
I saw a couple of pins where I was yesterday down southern fleurieu. Also saw a lot that were rotten. I was in pine forest as well as the edge of native scrub amongst bracken. In the pine forest, the place looked well picked, I felt like I was getting the leftovers. In the native area, a lot were past it but didn't seem like there had been as many people through there.

I always look for signs of hunters: Last trip i saw inactives picked and dropped, fresh mandarine peels and bark pulled off a fallen tree. So the place would've got the once over before i arrived. Im not sure on this one, but its also possible a piece of dung with alutacea was removed.

Speaking of things left in the forest, i found a magical scarf near a prolific patch a while ago. I also found some accomodation. The scarf brought me good luck so i've held onto it.
