I imagine either way is fine, but after you guys harvest do you go back and pick all this off the sub surface before dunking? Or just leave it and let the new myc take over it? Ive been picking it all off but it has a tendancy to create a pretty chewed up sub surface. Just want to make sure im doing it right. Thanks.

i would just give that a good mist and wait 3 or 4 days to give those pins a chance to grow. after that i'd just dunk whats left.

Disclaimer: I'm only 90% sure of my answer
I think you're doing a slight amount of harm to your sub by picking them off and leaving more possibility for contams. You definitely don't need to pick them off

I clean everything off. Most of those won't grow anymore really other than to maybe lengthen a tiny bit and try to open their caps. I just snip right under the base of them with scissors and throw em in my tea pile.
I don't think they would hurt anythign being on there but I like to just get eevrything dried all at once and be able to forget about that tub totally for a few days after I float it.

Sorry I didn't zoom in on the pic originally. I didn't realize those were all pins. Disregard what I said earlier lol

Same here dude. I found that when I tugged the mushies off the substrate instead of slicing them, I ended up getting contamination’s right around that area towards the end of my tubs life cycle 😢. Now I slice from the bottom and leave whatever I don’t slice on the substrate. It just recolonizes and doesn’t leave any exposed substrate.

With clusters like that all over I’d slice them off with a scalpel. If it was only here and there I’d leave them.

For the amount of work it is to cut them each off, I just leave them and risk them molding, after the first flush who cares anyways .
