I've seen a number of shroomers from back in the day mention picking from around Lake Lanier area. But I bet you wouldn't have to travel nearly that far to find a good spot.

Yeah I always make sure to enjoy the hunt, I don't go out and get frustrated when I don't find actives however I would like to find at least a semi decent spot that I know will eventually bring the love. I do try and keep my eye out in residential areas I just can't bring myself to go snooping around peoples front lawns unless I knew them personally lol. Personally I'd like to drive as little as 30 minutes since I don't always have the extra 3-4 hours just for a ride to look. I have found a nice forest area near my house (walking distance) with lots of different types of environments, woodland/creek with overflow/grassy open area in sun/some spots with red clay, all in one spot within a mile walk around. I've spent probably a good 12 hours just in that one area and haven't had much luck. (found 4 aborted gyms, which I was proud of but ready to find the big bois)

I think I'm just gettin the itchin since it has been nonstop raining and temperatures have been damn near perfect and I don't have a solid lead yet. I think next time I go out i'll take pictures of the environment and make just a post about that for suggestions if i'm looking in the right area. Obviously it can be 100% on the dot habitable but not have anything, trying to cope with that

Try and do some research on the areas you're checking. Find out where the ground has been disturbed in the past couple years. Maybe a spot where a water line was repaired. Or where a trench was dug to direct water run off. Look at the ages of the trees in areas like that. Young pines and sweet gum that grow in areas like I've described.
Don't focus on areas that are too far away. Play the long game. Study everyone else's habitat shots and descriptions. Find several areas nearest to you that fit the bill. Check them more than once. My finds have happened in spots that I just kept checking. My first spot I found in August didn't prove itself until November. Point being, don't give up on a spot after only checking it once.
I'm only a year ahead of you in the weilii search. I haven't had a whole lot of finds but I have found them. I didn't find my first ones until November last year. But you've come to the right place for advice for sure.

Dang I almost did an ID request first but really thought I'd just found the most perfect gyms. I've learned something new like usual thanks to shroomery. But I'm really facepalming my post on this thread. Apologies.

Don’t sweat it hombre. They’re pretty mushrooms.
See how the gills go down the stipe? Gyms won’t ever do that.

I could see that. I've been harvesting chants so long though that I didn't mix these up with those

I don’t think I have seen pristine gymnopolis yet. They are always somewhat munched on by slugs and bugs. Mushrooms that grow on wood always get the worst of the bugs unless it’s winter.

I wish I could see Cham's old finds. They've all been deleted but from everyone's response I could tell they were quite impressive. Such a tease.
Let's see that alien patch man!

Look up northgahunt. Dude found the biggest patches you’ll ever see.
Chams where great too. He just had this patch that would pump them out constantly from what I remember.
