for the life of me i cant find a grow tek for lions mane from scratch. Ive used the Search function, looked in edible and gourmet, and mushroom cultivation, searched down to 5 years by TCs and nothing solid. Mostly questions, any advice would be greatly appreciated. BTW, you're the shiet man, been here for a minute and have used many of your teks. Much love, homes. thanks for what you do here it is appreciated!

There's probably not a "lions mane tek" out there. But there is a making clean spawn. Examples of lions mane mycelium. And growing woodlovers. Posts and threads.
The edibles don't get nearly the same community of information that the psychedelic mushrooms do

Bod I followed your guide to the T. Learned a ton and make a lot of happy accidents. I just harvested my first flush. Thanks so much for your help. If I can do it, anyone can do it.
One thing I did wrong, was I had side pins. When I put the substrate in the tub, I gently patted it down along the edges like in your video. But after a few days it shrunk up, and left room for the side pins. I'm thinking I didnt use enough water in the coir. Thoughts?

Opinion on sterilization times for about 80 quart jars or 40 5qt bags in a 55 gal sterilization barrel? There's no psi. I've been seeing conflicting info saying anywhere from 8 hours to 24 hours is needed. Your thoughts?

Hey Bod, I'm wondering what you would recommend for shroom storage for a year plus. I'm trying to decide if I should invest in a vaccum sealer, or if a desiccate and Oxygen absorber in an airtight jar stored in the fridge is enough?

Having a hard time finding the answer to my question.
When transfering agar. Do you place the Myc up or down? Or does it matter?

The myc will find the source of nutes either way
Edit* So recently iv'e read that it does matter and you should flip the wedge when you transfer for cleaner growth.

I'm having trouble getting pins. The oldest containers are at least 6 weeks old, newer ones at least 4 weeks in growing condition (spawining+fruiting).
I do mist once and fan at least 4 times a day.
Unmodified tub
5 odd containers with different sizes and substrate depth
A. Popcorn cased in coffee grind. Lots of bluing and the mycelium very thick and dry.
B. popcorn cased in coir. Starting to blur with sign of pin at bottom left corner.
C. popcorn cased in coir
D. popcorn cased in coir
E. popcorn cased in coir

No fruits in under 15 days your spawn was bad or conditions. Since you used popcorn im going to guess bacterial spawn. Also since they never fully colonized it's pretty well case closed bacterial spawn

Thank you. I'll do another run using rye.

Polyfil Lid in PC? [Re: polko]
#26828821 - 07/17/20 11:56 AM (3 years, 8 months ago) |

I have my jars prepared with oats, and I drilled a hole in the lid and put polyfil in. My question is, do I put the polyfil in before PCing? I put it in pretty tightly and I am scared that the jars will break from pressure during PC... could someone explain how this is safe so I’m not panicking the whole time? Did I pack it too tightly or not?
Thanks! Kuchikopi

The polyfill acts as a filter to stop competing spores from enterring as the jars cool and suck in air. . .
The polyfill and hole actually reduce the pressure differential between the inside and outside of the jar, making them much less likely to break. . . Cover the lids with tin foil, and go hard!

Was reading your PE6 and APE clone to LI to bulk grow post. It says to guess about the 2 LI syringes. Below that is the agar in bottle to be filled with water after grow out. Just checking if this is the LI tek you used for the above referenced PE6 and APE syringes?

Probably some old thing I tried. Everything I actually use and do is in my linked teks. But you can find a lot of stuff I did but wouldn't necessarily suggest via searches
