What causes lions mane to grow thin and whispy and looking like coral vs a nice dense ball? I'll have two blocks with the exact same recipe (masters mix), same spawn, and one with be the nice dense ball with tentacles like we're used to and the other comes out looking like the picture I've attached.

It needs more FAE. Like lots.

As in Co2 is too high? I use a Co2 meter and I'm always below 1200 at the meter but maybe there's not enough air circulation in the fruiting chamber and that's causing a pocket of high Co2.

Yes, less CO2, more oxygen. Lion's mane grows like that when they can't breathe.

ya as they put out co2 it sits within the fruit. also allowing some moisture to evaporate/exchange as it absorbs co2 and o2 aswell is a way its easy to think about it.
have you ever noticed elevated co2 levels?

So what's the best way to avoid the Co2 lingering in the fruit?
Yes the Co2 goes up and down all day from 500ppm to about 1200ppm at times. The reason for this is as the humidifier (5 head ultra sonic disc in a tote located outside of the tent that pipes humid air into the tent) kicks in, it brings in fresh air. The stagnent air is exhausted by a 6" inline fan running on low that runs 24/7. I adjust it as needed depending on how many blocks I have in the fruiting room (8x8 hydroponic tent). I currently have no air circulation other then what is provided by the exhaust, which is on the bottom of one of the corners of the tent and the humid air inlet which is a 7' x 2" abs pipe that runs along the ceiling down the middle of the tent with holes drilled on both sides every 2'.

Get a circulation fan in there but don't have it blowing on the mushrooms you just want it moving air around. I have my humidity sensor wrapped with a paint booth filter and I place it on the intake of the circulation fan. This is where the air gets mixed and will give you the best reading for your humidity sensor.
Turn your exhaust fan up as much as possible without losing humidity. You can not have too much FAE.
