I can gain weight super fast. Like I could put on 10 pounds in a week. Easy. So I have to be real careful. I seem to be able to lose it pretty fast too if I'm actively trying to. I'm a little guy, 5'7"-ish and 140-ish. I got all the way up into the 190's like 10 years ago.

I had a problem when I was about 40, lots of physical work cutting fire wood, and a complete lack of appetite due to smoking too much weed (bout an oz per week) absoloutely no appetite, felt like gagging after a few mouthfuls of food because it felt like I was forcing it in.
Used body building high protein shakes mixed with full fat milk, couple of pints of that (chocolate flavor was easiest to take after trying a few)every day for a couple of months sorted me out, went back to normal weight with normal appetite too.

Could be like me. If I eat after getting high it will immediately bring my high down. So what do I do? Not eat when I get high. Do this long enough and it starts becoming subliminal.

Yeah and people are affected differently too of course. I always hear about how people will smoke cigarettes to lose weight because it makes them not want to eat. My best friend's wife does this as a matter of fact.
Me? A cigarette has the opposite effect. I actually get hungry after a cigarette.

This is pretty much the basic recipe for getting ripped, can drop carbs to 40% and protein to 30% if you want, space protein out, you can absorb about 20g at any particular meal.

Do you lose weight quickly too? You're probably in the mesomorph category, easy to put weight on and drop it too.

OP, assuming you've tried "eating more", and not having any success, you might want to try GOMAD.
GOMAD stands for Gallon Of Milk A Day. It's kind of a last resort method some bodybuilders use to gain weight. Milk has tons of calories, protein, fat, carbs (lactose). Try it for a month and see how well it works.
Supposedly if you don't gain weight from this, it might indicate a medical problem. That's just going off from what I've read, so take that with a grain of salt. But from what I gather, if this doesn't work then nothing will.

I sitting here now wondering what the motivation is behind gaining weight? If it's so difficult. A gallon of milk a day sounds desperate. Where is this desparation coming from?

Some people don't like being extremely thin to the point of being gaunt. My older brother was like that, and he is tall at 6'4" but weighed in at 165. People asked if he was sick all the time. Eventually he got serious about diet and training, he now is at 225 and 16% body fat which is pretty fucking ripped. He wants to cut to 10% body fat but getting enough lipid soluble vitamins starts getting tough below that range. He looks great now, not too big for his height, just athletic looking.

if you schmoke enough it will start to kill your appetite over time.

I don't think I've had the munchies since before the pandemic.

Im 28. My girlfriend is hardcore vegetarian, which is very respectable but it clashes with what we eat. I lost weight because I couldnt smoke weed anymore to be honest. I dont eat fast food really. Ive been eating alot of pasta lately. Another thing that makes it difficult for me is I cant just eat any meat, I find factory farming appaling and have to buy the more expensive meats. Im aiming at a diet that consists of starches, nuts, adding more mest then I eat now, cheese, peanut butter etc... I eat really healthy, it just doesnt add weight.
Im lean, pretty much all muscle but I can tell my face looks differenf. A dude I knew in HS was like “holy shit you lost a lot of weight since I saw you last.” That seriously hurt my soul. Im trying to be repetitive with life. Wake, eat something, shower, work, come home eat, hang out with the family, deal With my mushrooms, whatever. I dont have weights so Im going to improvise with milk jugs. IDGAF

Exercise - lift big. Start with low weights/high reps & build yourself up. Eat as much as you can.....but not whatever you want. Eat healthy, eat balanced....but eat a lot of it. This is hard, but aim to eat a meal (doesn’t have to be a big meal) every 2 hours or so. Take supplements; protein, BCAAs, creatine, etc. Sleep is also important, as that’s when ours bodies recuperate. Be consistent with all of this; won’t happen overnight. But I went from about 110-115 lbs soaking wet to about 170 when consistent, and drop to about 155 or so when I fall out of my routine.

Some strains (sativa dom IME) contain high amounts of the cannabinoid CB1 Neutral Antagonist THCV (Tetrahydrocannabivarin) which is an appetite surpressant, I believe (anecdotally) this has a high half life so can also build up in your system if you take a lot of cannabis for a long time, there's quite a bit of research on it.
