Vermiculite - The Herpes of the Mycology World
    #26794550 - 06/30/20 01:20 PM (3 years, 6 months ago)

Just gonna say it.

I fucking hate Vermiculite.

It sticks to everything like glitter, which is the herpes of the art world. Shrooms dig into it like little pigs and it bonds with there essence because you will never successfully remove it!

Now I'll admit it seems to have helped protect the fungal nuggets from my continued attention. Holding moisture and all but lord what a mess.

Anyway.  Thanks for letting me rant.

Bane of the amateur mycologists existence?
A boon as well, IMO.  All in ones perspective.

I've been phasing it out gradually for years, as much as adopting different approaches and teks allows me to.

At first it was a staple, now it is more of an amendment or supplement to the hobby...

Ya its a fucking mess for sure, though!
Sticks to the goddam laminate flooring, gets all in my blankets and bedding n shit!

It is pretty sticky like glitter!

Protip, use a dull knife to scrap the vermiculite off the shroom stems.

I also dont roll my cakes anymore cause of the verm issue. Too messy. Just dunk and fruiting for me. :yesnod:
