Cacti help
    #26794207 - 06/30/20 10:29 AM (3 years, 7 months ago)

Is there a particular reason these mexican fence posts are tending to grow like this? How would I fix it? Also, are they growing too close together to achieve maximum growth? Thanks!

It loves outdoors in full sun except for when it rains

Growing conditions were poor, they grew thin, conditions improved, they grew thick again. Won't ever fill out to match at that point.

Was it ever in low light conditions, because that's usually what happens to their growth. I have a barrel cactus all kinds of deformed right now because of low light conditions, and then full sun again.

So for optimal growth would it be best to cut it off where the change is size behind to occur and start a new plant with the top?

Yes it was! Is there no way to even it out?

Yes, cut where the red lines are,and re-pot the tips. I know it will pain you to do it, but that cactus will be looking a lot better in no time and will most likely push out new side pups form the cut tips, for even more cacti

I actually grew your type of cereus, or a close relative and mine got massive! I used to cut it back and it would pup like crazy!

I miss that old girl

How long should I wait to let it callous over before potting?

I would wait a few days, then pot up!
