Can someone move this thread for the OP?

Thanks guys. Made this post with quite the sense of urgency, so I just put it wherever I could find.
I removed that cake from the fruiting chamber. Any advice on anything regarding this incident is appreciated.

Take first out of the chamber. Out of the house. Incinerate.
Second one looks hella bacterial or something, the moment those pins look like the veil is stretching I would harvest, being sure that the base or stem doesnt have some sort of mold intertwined.

Is throwing the cake into the woods bad? There was some mold on the aluminum foil as well; I sprayed it heavy with Clorox and threw it away in the outside garbage. Is that okay?

Make sure you keep a close eye on anything that may have been in the same chamber. By the time you see green the mold has sporulated and spread itself around. Wipe down the surfaces of that fruiting chamber with isopropyl or bleach solution. You could also salt the perlite a bit then mist it with hydrogen peroxide or something.
Important to get that FC mold spore free before you put any new colonized substrates in there.

Nothing wrong with throwing moldy cakes in the woods. As long as they are away from your clean space. There is a ton of trichoderma out there in the woods already, among millions of other molds, yeasts and fungi. Its actually good for plants' root systems and stuff to have trichoderma around...

You guys are the best! I believe I read that putting cakes in the FC too early can cause contams. Is that true and could that be the case here?

Only if by early you mean before the cake is 100% colonized. Then it probably would contam since there is still blank nutrition waiting for whatever spores land on it.
Syringes aren’t always clean so it’s possible you had some bacteria or some weak mold growing the whole time and once the cake was in open air for a while the mold took over. You also could introduce something accidentally during inoculation.

Yeah, there's a good chance they weren't 100% colonized as far as I'm concerned. Either way good information, already learning a lot more. Thank you everyone who's replied and helped so far!
