Paul Giamatti is da man.  Sideways was a great flick.

I’d give that one a 9/10

It's hard to underestimate how important Midnight Cowboy was when it came out. Plus it was very early performances of Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight. It seemed like every Oscar or Oscar nominated movie was important then, and now they're not. Everything was edgy then. Now we are so far into postmodernism that everything is a copy of copy of a copy.

I think very few people have ever seen Cruising, despite Al Pacino. I saw it at a theatre when I was a senior in high school and 4 of the 6 people there walked out during the opening scene. I've never seen it since. It never shows up on cable or movie stations.

Second City Television (SCTV), kind of a Canadian version of SNL did a hilarious parody of Midnight Cowboy. John Candy played Joe Buck with an exaggerated Swedish accent and Eugene Levy did Hoffman.

Robot in the Family (1994)
4/10

This movie is totally bonkers in the plot/editing department, which is usually something I totally love, but not enough for this straight-to-video production of a family film.  It seems the father of this family could have been the inspiration for the character Borat.  It wasn't super hard to get through, but is a movie that I probably will not watch again.

Henry Rollins: Uncut From NYC (2006)
6/10

I am a huge fan of this guy's spoken word material.  Although not technically a comedian, he speaks of his worldwide travels and experiences and is often funny and enlightening in doing so.  This particular movie has it's great moments, but not near as entertaining as Up For It or Talking From The Box.

Jim Henson's Labyrinth. I haven't watched it in probably 25 years, and even then I'd only seen it once when I was younger and couldn't appreciate it then. This movie is now currently one of my favorites. I'm not the biggest Bowie fan, but with his role I was easily able to catch a feel of his spirit and understand what his vibe was like during his prime years. Jen Connelly is bar none one of the most beautiful girls I have ever seen in my life, and she was perfect for her role as Sarah. The whole movie is near perfect to me. A truly magical film created by a very imaginative spirit. Exciting, funny, moving. Psychedelic.

9/10

Yeah that movie rules.  Dark Crystal & it’s remake we’re pretty dope too.  Jen Con was best bae for a long time :manofapproval:

She Wore a Yellow Ribbon  7.5/10

This is another John Ford movie, and I must say it's the most disappointing of any of his that I've seen. Unlike Fort Apache, which was sophisticated, cerebral and cool, this one is just a fairly generic cavalry vs. Indians tale, somewhat boring, actually, and though John Wayne is amazing, it's just not a very great movie. The directing is mesmerizing, and apparently the movie won the Oscar for best cinematography in 1949. But if you're interested in getting into the teeth of John Ford, this one shouldn't be too high on your list.

Pineapple Express 8/10

Standard excellent stoner comedy.  Adds a good bit of violence and action which looks good on the stoner comedy for some reason.

I give Rosemary's Baby an 8.5. An interesting Polanski film with a good cast. It came before nearly everything else in this genre.

Born A Ninja (1988?)
7/10

Another cut-and-paste Godfrey Ho experience that is a batshit crazy helluva ride.  There are some scenes that are uncomfortably long.  There are times when the dubbed voices have echo going on for no good reason.  Just when you think to yourself, "OK, I'm gonna watch something else", something outrageous come out of the blue.  Some will not be able to get past the videotape quality.  A good reefer & beer film that you can put on to get rid of unwanted squares.
