Its going to be something swift at an advanced age.
I will be in a hospital bed, surrounded with loved ones I mostly have not yet met.
I will be completely at peace right before going.

Not sure! Both my grandpas are dead - one before I was born, and one might as well have been dead before I was born anyways. I think it was lymphoma for the estranged one(also have a maternal great aunt who died from that, so that's the one I'm worried about specifically), and stomach cancer for my maternal grandpa - he lived and worked in an incredibly toxic place and they think it was largely environmental though.
Both my grandmas are okay though, one is significantly more spry than the other, and a little younger, and the other fought off covid with little to no symptoms. Both my parents continue to be active and pretty healthy as they breach their 60's. my dad has autoimmune issues I might have to watch out for eventually, but it's not something that kills so much as...debilitates if it's not controlled(which his mostly is right now, even off meds).
I'm pretty healthy, young, idk...I try to not let it preoccupy my thoughts all that much unless something weird happens - if I ever suddenly start getting night sweats then I'm gonna be on red alert for lymphoma though.

I always figured I was going to die from a cough. I haven't had a cig in 25 years, but still.

I always thought it will be a motorbike accident. One day I'm going to ride off a cliff by accident and fall really far. If not I'll die when i run out of heart beats left to beat.
I don't eat enough to get cancer or other chronic illnesses
Or I'll get shot to death in the cross fire of some gang shooting

Unfortunately this is what I see more and more in my family. Not altzheimer's specifically but dementia in general, really doesn't matter either way your brain is slowly dying and it is horrible.
My dad died at 75 from dementia following emergency surgery for a medical treatment acquired infection. It was his third surgery over 70 and each one caused damage. They call it post operative cognitive decline (POCD) and there is no desire to do anything about it. Anesthesia is bad and cummulatively so. He came out like a 6 year old from the last one and went down from there over 4 months.
Unfortunately that is the future I see for more and more people, myself included, super bug infections are ready to invalidate our antibiotic treatments and our brains will begin to deteriate. As they get better at treating cancer and cardiovascular diseases there is very little in the way of treatment or prevention (POCD) for the brain.
I seriously hope i have something else but i am resigned to the vegatative purgatory before release

My one grandmother has it pretty bad. It's really rough. She's in skilled nursing at this point, needs help with damn near everything. Eventually I think she'll hit the point where she'll just stop eating. It does worry me a little bit, moreso about my mom, because watching her go through this whole process with her own mother seems like a special kind of hell.
The symptoms first began 10 years ago and it's kind of like saying goodbye to someone you knew little by little over a long period of time. It's really haunting. I haven't seen her since before covid. I've called her, but you can imagine how confusing that is for her when only on a good day will she know I am her granddaughter(she always seems to recognize me, just can't always place it), and the nursing home is still in the thick of it and won't do outdoor visits yet(even though she's already had it). I worry a lot that she'll be end stage before I can even see her again.
The research is hopeful and amazing, but for people who currently suffer from it, it's rough. Love to you and yours.

I remember when I was a kid I always had this image in my head of myself dying in bed on a winter day, comfy, with a dog laying next to me, and a plaid blanket.
Makes me nervous when I do find myself laying in bed, with a dog, and a plaid fleece blanket, on a winter day. Though the image in my head was of someone old and sick.
...I was a weird kid I guess . Just seemed odd that it was so clearly in my head.
