Out door grow behind the shed
    #26789720 - 06/28/20 12:36 PM (3 years, 6 months ago)

Had a couple jars that got a little trich on top, scooped that out first and spread the rest with some old soil/coir mix watered and put pine needles on top. Been giving it a little spray every other day.
It's been pretty warm and humid the past week and i saw these coming up today :mushroom2:

Looks like something ate a little on the caps, and these are the first white caps ive seen. just assuming its something that happens outside.

Cubes grown outdoors are often a lot lighter in my experience but those white ones look a little different. Do they bruise like normal?

I was planing to pick those in the morning, one on the right has a slight brown tint. I checked out 'death caps' real quick online and will look them over closely but that would be really fucking weird

I dumped some AA+ bulk into a compost bin  weeks ago. Taking too long to fruit so I tossed them. I forgot to mix it up and left it for two weeks. It's been near 100F a few days and mostly high 80s low 90s, in the shade, in an enclosed box with fungus gnats. Checked it today and it sprouted the biggest AA+ I've ever grown! Caps were 4" wide and over 8" tall. I tossed them since they weren't sanitary. No trich in the bulk surprisingly. I'd love to try and replicate these conditions indoors if I can keep contam in check.

You tossed the mushrooms? They're fine unless they're covered in some kind of slimey bacteria or mold or they're just rotting. Did the gnats get at them? They be food just like everything else we eat.

I just went out and picked it, smells good, can see the light brown on cap better, brown gills, blue bruising.

I'm wondering if i need to cut off the partially eaten areas or just dry as is?

Yeah, I just mixed them in with the compost today. I should have taken pics. They weren't slimy I just wasn't sure if any maggots would have burrowed into them since it's filled with gnats. I've got plenty of other tubs going so no loss. The were beautiful though.

The compost bin is just a 100 or so qt sterlite with about 10 holes drilled in the lid. I toss it into my bamboo and blueberries when it gets filled.

Picked what was there and dried out to around 3.5

Lightly buried one of my shoebox cakes that was starting to get some yellowing on the bottom and fly larvae out there.

My other spent shoebox cakes will end up out here as well.
I'll probably start breaking up the ones i get some flushes out of.
