I know I've done it before, and they are super easy to grow. I don't live in the UK though

You will be having the peyotes inside under a growlamp or behind a sunny window. It works well. You cant plant them outside in UK unless you have a heated greenhouse. Try grow some, they grow slowly and one develops a bond with the peyotes and dont want kill them for the mescaline when they get big.
To accelerate grow speed you can graft the seedlings onto a faster growing cactus. Pereskiopsis is very suitable for this and will increase growspeed like 10 times. One can de-graft them onto regular soil when they are big. Many peyote growers use this technique. Here is some old thread with info on it: Cactus Grafting Techniques Thread

Maybe consider trichocereus pachanoi or bridgesii or something.

Search the posts of the user Mostly_Harmless.
It has been done. You just need to do some research into the basics of germination and go from there. Good luck!

Hmm I find that Trichocereus with not enough light grows thin and ugly, not enough light with Loph makes em grow slowly (and yes they can grow thin too but imo only if you don't really try seriously) but imo doesnt distort them too much.
I definitely second the grafting tip. However another tip would be to practice grafting first with cheap expendable seedlings or get a bunch of spare Loph seedlings.
I grow mine indoors and love it.

Start autumn/winter under lights for a headstart on the season, or in spring in indirect light. This should see them grow enough to go through the following winter dry and dormant.
With a CFL, 15w per square foot does the trick. I've started in gritty mixes, coir+perlite, neat moler. They don't seem too fussed on the medium so long as it is open enough for root development.
moler

moler/grit/john innes #3, telling me a repot is overdue

moler/perlite/cornish grit

Graft to pereskiopsis to get them going well and producing more seed within a few months.

degrafts put in a quartz/granite/moler/tufa mix (well the ones that weren't eaten!) they live outside all summer, going back into an unheated greenhouse for winter.

They like it here on windowsills, in cold frames, greenhouses. Those kept in greenhouses will see more flowers. Full sun, they love it, once acclimated.
For winter rest, anywhere cool or cold, frost free. Windowsills in unheated bedrooms, a garage, a greenhouse, a conservatory. Tempting fate to say this no doubt, but I've not lost one yet to winter cold in an unheated greenhouse. Stopping watering in august, maybe a small drink in september if the weather is holding, but is good to let them get a bit dehydrated before settling in for a cold winter.
